This Myles Garrett thing has really brought out the rant’s virulently racist contingent

Damn, those threads on the rant and MSB are BAD. I have a high threshold but am genuinely surprised by some of the stuff being left up, and that’s just the posts chicken hasn’t deleted.

Why are you guys defending Garrett so vigorously? It is very sketchy that he said nothing about racist comments at the time, but when he needs out of trouble whips it out. Not saying Myles is a liar, but it feels likely in this case.

No, I just tend to forget how different race relations can be in most of Texas vs rural LA, MS, GA and AL.

Every now and then I’m reminded where many on this site come from

For the most part we’re trolling/egging them on. In the process of doing that however, their rage is allowing their suppressed racism to boil over and they’re posting some pretty surprising stuff.

I saw some obviously racist stuff as well on the main board. But I think it is ok to doubt Myles is doing anything other than trying to cover his own arse. Just because he is a great Aggie baller doesn't mean he hasn't caused his own mess. Hope he is telling the truth and not making it worse. Calling someone a racist who didn't do anything is not cool at all. Or maybe the QB was that stupid and Pouncey liked him enough to let it go. Who knows?

I agree, I’m suspicious as well. I’m not gonna let this trolling opportunity to go to waste though

Yeah

“gee, wonder what set him off like that? He must just be a thug to suddenly get violent, that’s the only explanation”

Today

“He says Mason called him a racially racist? Myles is a black man, therefore he must be lying”

Because a week ago we were all sitting around going how shocked we were and how out of character this was for him, and we were all wondering out loud what possibly could’ve happened to make him lose his cool in such a way

And it’s perfectly in character for him to not come out and say something like this initially until he realizes he has no choice but to tell what happened

Wish I had your childlike belief in all things Aggie. Seriously.

But even if Rudolph called him everything racist in the book, I don't see how that gives MG the right to do something that could have killed Rudolph. MG was dead wrong. Maybe Rudolph was too. But waiting to mention something so serious to another's livelyhood until you go to the principals office for punishment doesn't seem to bright to me. Should have said it right away or not at all.

Agreed. Everybody should get the sand out of their pussies and stop letting words turn them into raging animals. Garrett deserves what he got. He should pray nobody presses criminal charges.

Nobody has said he had a right to do swing a helmet at MR. Garrett himself has not said that. He simply gave an explanation for why he straight up lost his mind. Giving a reason for acting crazy is not an excuse for what he did but it does add context for why the situation spun so wildly out of control.

Also, considering his past behavior I don't see why anyone would assume Garrett is lying. He has never given any indication he is some kind of lying psycho thug who attacks people out of nowhere like a Ndamukong Suh so I lean towards believing Garret that Mason Rudolph said something when he kept trying to get at Myles. It's not like white dudes in the NFL using slurs is some sort of impossibility. Guys like Richie Incognito and Riley Cooper have shown that dudes can get away with dropping slurs and still have an NFL career.

Yeah and many know he is an Aggie and a lot of those Ranters don't like aTm in case you weren't aware.

I never said he should have beaned Rudolph

But I’m saying I believe him and don’t think he’s lying until proven otherwise

Miles will learn his lesson. He won't do anything like this again.

LOL. This is exactly how I feel.

Was stupid to use a helmet as a weapon. Was almost as stupid as going for an aggressive sack with seconds left in the game. Stupidity on top of stupidity. None of this is defendable.

This is a Cleveland Browns problem and nothing more.
