Spav on Kyle Field
quote:

It is such a special place to play college football, and I have great memories in that stadium. We’ve talked to our kids about how they’re probably going to play in college football’s best stadium on Thursday. We can’t even prepare them for how loud Kyle Field is going to be, but we know it will be loud.

Must. Resist. Sh*t-taking. Spav.......

I realize he was too young at the time and it’s probably more of Sumlin’s fault for upgrading him to OC in the first place, but damn was he a bad coordinator for us. Hope we send him from Kyle with his tail tucked after a 5+ touchdown margin loss.

Alright, actual game discussion, I think that spread is right on. Jimbo isn’t gonna have us running quick and with how well we used the ball control offense last year it will slow the game down and we won’t put up huge numbers. Of course if Spav is still using his hurry up 3 and our offense, that might give us a lot of extra opportunities with the ball and we might hammer them by 60.... I’d still actually take the under on the margin of victory by a hair.

I really don’t know how to feel about this game, other than knowing we will win.

Part of me feels like a 63-14 score is very possible. I could also see some 38-21 bullshite as well, which I would definitely overreact to and change my predictions to a 4-8 season.

In the end I just want Mond to be accurate, receivers not drop easy passes, and for the defense to tackle like they know what they are doing.

We need to get some good reps in for the Clemson game. I think we can beat Clemson and shake the College Football world up early.

Super excited for a 7:30pm home game kick off during the weekday for our season opener. Campus will be an interesting place all day long. Gonna be a fun time no matter what happens.

I'm thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of 55-13. Texas St is one of the worst 15-20 FBS teams. I do agree with Manzielathon, if this is even remotely close, it may be a bad sign for the rest of the season.

Here is what I am going to be paying close attention to:

1.The DBs: Any improvement in this unit, specifically in locating the ball when it is in the air and then making a play for it? Are the safeties still missing tackles?

2. DEs: I think we will be strong in the middle with the DTs. Are we generating good pressure off the edge?

3. RBs: I think we will be able to run the ball without much trouble. But I am curious to see if we are just going to lean on Corbin as an every down back everywhere on the field, or if there is some substitution pattern to work in the other RBs.

4. TEs and WRs sets: Are we still going to try to mix in some 2 TE sets, or would we rather play with another WR out on the field, instead, since we seem to have a number of good options at that position? They seem to like Beal as a blocking TE. But if you are going to throw, would you rather line up either Beal or Wydermyer as another TE, or bring in Chapman, Preston, or maybe Smith?

Even looking at those positions won't tell you much. The level of talent Spav inherited is pretty abysmal. I wouldn't get too high on any of our players because of this game.

I was at that game. Very weird game. They had a decent QB, but the stands were almost empty because of the hurricane and the last minute schedule change. Felt like practice.

I will add LBs to this group. I want to see them dominate on Thursday.

I just hope TxSt's LBs don't outplay ours. They have a solid group.

Texas State football has named sophomore Tyler Vitt the starting quarterback for the opener against Texas A&M, according to the Statesman's Keff Ciardello.

Vitt played in nine games for the Bobcats last season, and started seven. He threw for 1,159 yards, seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions for the Bobcats. Texas State lost all nine games in which he appeared.

His best game came against Louisiana-Lafayette on Oct. 6. He completed 28-of-39 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns in a narrow 42-27 loss. He will have a chance to reinvigorate his career under new offensive-minded coach Jake Spavital.

Vitt won the starting job over Fullerton College transfer Gresch Jensen, who previously played under offensive coordinator Bob Stitt at Montana. Expect Jensen to still get some snaps against the Aggies on Thursday night.

So Richardson with a pick 6 to the house? Is that what you're getting at?

Bruh...Fran was forced out after the 2015 season. Fran’s second Texas State run he went 6-6 (FBS transitional independent ), 4-8 (WAC), 6-6 (Sun Belt), 7-5, 3-9. He was replaced by then James Madison HC Everett Withers who got canned after going 2-10, 2-10, and starting last year at 3-8.
