I am not saying it is "obvious" that they will be better there, but it is not impossible. Blades might be the answer at one CB spot. Maybe O'Neal claims one safety position. We'll see.

That is exactly what I mean. At many positions we have potential maybe but also question marks. Doesn't mean we can't but it does mean it isn't some sort of forgone conclusion.

This seems a little over the top. Both lines are in the process of being turned over. The secondary and receiving corps is going to be nasty in a few years. The QB depth is on track to being rebuilt.

Find some serviceable LBs between the 2019/2020 classes and get some better pash rushers and we'll be fine. We don't need to win 9 or 10 games this regular season for Jimbo to have success down the road.

I know it's still a pipe dream, but it never hurts to get him back on campus. Sam Adams II is suppose to visit sometime soon too I think

We could be one of the 10 best teams in the country and still go 9-4 this year because we play the four most talented teams in the country.

Next year, when we return nearly the entire roster, replace Georgia with Vandy and Clemson with Colorado, is when we need to make a playoff run. Barring a 2000 OU out of nowhere type of surprise, this year is a building year.

Obviously not, but this sport is cutthroat. I can't even recall a recent example where a coach arrived at a program to much fanfare, took a step back and then eventually had a lot of success.

Most programs that see a bigtime turn around with a new coach see real progress in year two, and that is all I am saying we need to see is progress. This isn't a situation where Jimbo has a lot of margin for error, and our local recruiting rivals will negative recruit him to oblivion if we have a setback year.

I'm in no position to evaluate the "fanfare" side of it, but consider Dabo Swinney. There are some actual numbers here which we can look at. I would say Clemson before he took over was a good team at times (but inconsistent), and not really performing anywhere up to how their fans saw their potential. Sounds a lot like how we viewed the Sherman and Sumlin teams.

2008: He was named interim head coach after Tommy Bowden resigned midway into the season. I'm not sure whether that should be judged his first year at Clemson, or not. They were 3-3 when he took over, and finished 7-6.
2009: 9-5 (his first full season)
2010: 6-7
2011: 10-4
2012: 11-2
2013: 11-2
2014: 10-3
2015: 14-1
2016: 14-1
2017: 12-2
2018: 15-0

He regressed in his second full season from 9-5 to 6-7. Good thing they stuck with him and didn't run him out of town on a rail.

Because your qualifiers are incredibly specific and ambiguous at the same time. Fisher was a game worse at FSU in his second year than first. Saban went 8-5 in his third year at LSU after going 10-3 in his second, they won a NC the next year. Just a couple examples where the development isn’t perfectly linear and I think it’s foolish to say it has to be that way or we won’t get there.

If you think going 8-5 or 7-6 next year will be that detrimental to recruiting I think you’re underrating how strong this staff is as a whole at recruiting.

Also Chris Petersen at UW went 8-6, then 7-6 before taking them to the CFB playoff. Looks to have them a consistent contender.

Where are you hearing that? A message board or an actual source?

I know we got a couple crystal balls for King this week. But I have no real info.

Remember when Dabo lost to WVU by half a hundred in the orange bowl in what, year 5? When he lost by a similar margin in 2013 to FSU at home?

Dude was a 6-10 win coach and got run by Jimbo at FSU for like years before breaking through

Talk around Longview. Haven’t talked to the coaching staff. Should see them this weekend to confirm.

Pretty much everyone here would have been demanding he be fired after that game.

CGSC would have endless threads that would go something like "That fricker Sharp and our pathetic admin have their Yes Man golfing buddy who gets by on his aww shucks Christian bullshite. Who cares if he is a nice guy? Nice guys get their asses kicked in the SEC. A WIDE RECEIVERS coach should NEVER be the head coach at a school like Texas A&M and everyone involved in putting him in place should be FIRED."

I certainly wouldn't be pining for Chad Morris, Willie Taggart or Charlie Strong.

Facts are hard:

2009 - 9 wins, WON DIVISION
2010 - 6 wins
2011 - 10 wins, WON CONFERENCE
2012 - 11 wins, WON DIVISION
2013 - 11 wins
2014 - 10 wins
2015 - 14 wins, NATIONAL RUNNER UP
2016 - 14 wins, NATIONAL TITLE
2017 - 12 wins, PLAYOFF
2018 - 15 wins, NATIONAL TITLE

Swinney has two years PERIOD when he has single digit wins in a season.
