He's made up his mind how it needs to be. We all know that means he's going to be talking about it for the next 6 months until that inevitable day where it ends up being someone else.

No, I know that our decision makers will not hire a defensive-minded coach like Schiano or McEntyre and that it will be the next great offensive cluster-frick.

Schiano had an 11-win season...at RUTGERS.
He was tied for 2nd with a head to head loss to WVU (2nd place as well). He then went on to beat KSU in the Texas Bowl for win #11. They finished 12th that year with a 1-1 record vs the top 25.

honestly, i wouldn't mind having someone as far removed from the "aggy" family tree as possible.

That was the best season and highest ranking in their program's history.

So I have ignored cfb internet since the loss...is there any smoke whatsoever that Sumlin is getting replaced any time soon? Any rumor will do

i still think he gets fired after we drop both the arkansas and south carolina games. no inside info, just my gut...."but i've been thinking with my gut since i was 14 years old, and frankly speaking, i've come to the conclusion that my guts have shite for brains." so take that for what it's worth.

This is still one of the greatest

Schiano is almost as much of an a-hole as Briles, who at least won 11 games in a real conference
EDIT: Seriously look at this fricking schedule

Q: Did [Bradley] tell you that he had had information concerning Gerald Sandusky and children?
A: He said he knew of some things.
Q: And did he tell you what he knew of?
A: Yeah.
Q: What did he tell you?
A: He said another assistant coach had come to him in the early ‘90s about a very similar situation to mine, and he said that he had—someone had come to him as far back as early as the ‘80s about seeing Jerry Sandusky doing something with a boy.
Q: Did he identify who the other coaches were that had given him this information?
A: The one in the early ‘90s, yes.
Q: And who was that?
A: Greg Schiano.

First let me say I want no part of Schiano, his schedules were Charmin soft and he sounds like a douche.
Second, if Hell exists Sandusky and any high up the chain who knew are there or will be.
That being said, I'm gonna say something that's gonna piss most of you off: I understand why low level assistants and coaching newcomers did nothing. I don't condone it, it was wrong, but I understand. At that point in their careers, they're not only committing suicide by speaking up but the odds are nobody but them suffers.
I mean, let's say in 1989 a 22 year old general assistant Greg Schiano goes to the Penn State administration or local authorities and reports Jerry Sandusky and JOE frickING PATERNO conspired to cover up child rape. What EXACTLY do you think would have happened. Be honest.
I don't condone it, but I get it. I absolutely do.

Yeah, let's just go ahead and remove Schiano's name from consideration. Don't want that mess here.
I'd really like for our admins to take a good look at Narduzzi.

So I mined this thread for names being thrown out and I compiled them into 6 categories as follows:
Make Them Say No (spoiler alert: They All Say No):
Petersen
Meyer
Saban
Fisher
Franklin
Shaw
Patterson
etc. (Its a long list)
OK, Maybe the Say Yes (But Probably Just Get A Raise):
Gundy
Mullen
Leach
Petrino
Fitzgerald
FFCA (Fired Football Coaches Association):
Kelly
Miles
Briles
Gruden
Slocum (you get the point)
Up And Comers (Already At A P5 School):
Fleck (Minn)
Narduzzi (Pitt)
Fuente (VT)
Durkin (Maryland)
MacIntyre (Colorado)
Up And Comers (G5 School):
Morris (SMU)
Frost (UCF)
Kiffin (FIU)
Top School Coordinators:
Schiano
Venables
Aranda
I understand its a going to be a LONG season and its fun to talk about the guys in the first three categories. However, in CFB today there is about a 98% chance that we hire someone from the last three categories. So that amounts to about 10 names and a leaderboard (based on likelihood) that at this point looks something like...
1. Morris
2. Frost
3. Durkin
4. MacIntyre
5. Fleck/Fuente

Wouldn't Schiano fall under "Fired Former Coaches" since he was fired from the Buccaneers?
Posted on 9/5/17 at 10:01 pm to CGSC Lobotomy
In Schiano's 11 seasons at Rutgers, he amassed a .504 win percentage. Rutger's all-time win percentage is .507. The guy is completely average.
Give me Chip Kelly. The guy was .868 at a school that is historically .566.

Chip Kelly struggled against Stanford. A lot of teams in the SEC can play like Stanford on both offense and defense.

Guys who I think we should gauge their interest:
Schiano - CSGC has laid out the argument out for him, so no need to repeat it.
Whittingham - successful at Utah
Aranda - regarded as an up and comer. So was Bob Stoops, so why not?
Fuente - successful at Memphis, seems to have VT rolling.

Well yes and no. The common denominator is really that none of them are back coaching at the college or NFL levels currently.
