I don’t see a winnable SEC game for the rest of the year

We are probably 13th worst in the SEC.

Hard to believe that can happen in one year.

Last year wasn’t a legit season in my book. True it counts, but nobody was able to give it their full shot due to restrictions in various locations and having reduced fans.

We shouldn’t go with the craziest college football year in history as a marker for anything.

Well offensive and defensive play was better last year. And certainly so was the QB play. Seems most teams can come up with some good play in any given season despite having the occasional bad game (think Ole Miss/Bama). But this year the Ags seem to be languishing everywhere except special teams.

Lose 4 OL starters
Injuries
Too much NIL interest and reading of own press clips

What else have I missed?

Need to work that transfer portal for some of this.

Then you are blind. Missouri is not good, neither is South Carolina. Yes we might finish dead last in the west, it is what it is, but there are certainly winnable conference games. And if King comes back healthy there might be a few more.

Looking up at Kentucky and wishing….

Question is… would you trade our oline straight up for South Carolina or even Vandy? Sad thing is I doubt it but not sure. Would have to research a bit first. That pretty much sums up our oline issues for me.

This looks like a bad combination of the 2000 and 2002 teams.

Basically the 2002 team without the Pitt and OU wins.

Mississippi State isn't good either and they just held us to 22 points at home. Memphis put up 31 on them and La Tech put up 34.

We are screwed.

Our offensive line is a dumpster fire full of toxic ostrich shite

Will probably be a toss up

Mizzou basically got mercy ruled at home by Tennessee. South Carolina is barely above Vandy talent wise.

The hope for us is as bad as the OL has been it is improving if you really watch it. They just aren't consistent and that comes with experience. The talent is there. King will also likely be back after Mizzou and then we will see. A competent mobile QB makes this a very, very different team.

We will see.

Not sure where you're seeing that talent.

How does a team get so thin at OL that you're down to freshmen in year 4?

We had 4 Seniors that left and the Freshman beat out the older folks. It's just very hard to integrate in 4 new OL most of which have played very little prior to this year. An issue for instance is the backups got very little playtime last year.

OL is particularly about chemistry as much as talent. Guys knowing where to be and trusting each other when they see confusing lineups. If you see the film you can see lots of instances where guys are driving guys and making great blocks. These guys are strong and athletic but they aren't working together as a unit. but that will improve.

Combine that with a backup QB that panics at the first sign of pressure, and cannot go through his progressions and yeah, that's the season so far ...

Yep.

Last year's OL with Calzada we would have a MUCH better result. It's part of why I think folks that think that Mond would be so great if we had him are naive.

The flip side was our plan was to have a young OL and King who is mobile enough to keep defenses honest and careful. Bull rush him and he could sidestep you and he's off to the races. Think you have him and he just gives a quick burst to buy an extra 3 or 4 seconds of time in the pocket. King has his flaws as well but he is also not afraid to sling it, he will let the ball fly.

A timid QB with a young OL is our worst case scenario and our reality. It sucks. The only thing that gives me hope is that the OL will improve as it matures and eventually King (or Weigmann next year) will be there. Once that happens you could have a significant leap forward. Problem is that isn't going to happen in the next few weeks and this season is already furked. Best to lube up now.

Pretty much our main problem. Give Calzada last year's line, Mond this year's line, or just King un injured and we are 4-1 at worst, might be 5-0 like CBS was hoping we'd be going into this week.

But it is what it is, and Jimbo is paid the big bucks to figure this out, so he better get to it.

I also think you could say we could be 4-1/5-0 if Elko's defense didn't get torched for three long 1st quarter scoring drives right out the gate vs Arkansas or give up 90 plays and 28 1st downs vs Mississippi State.

Whole lotta blame to go around

And Jimbo has had four years to recruit this mess.

Not impressed.
