Does Cfb Suck This Year?

It seems like we have Alabama, Georgia, and Miami.
Outside of those three, everyone looks terrible.
Due to the NIL era, the quality of cfb looks so much worse than ever before. Coaches are saying that the teams of 10 years ago would dogwalk any team today. I'm sure they're right. I can barely watch this bullshite.

Yall acting like this wasn’t the situation 10 years ago

It's funny watching NIL backfire on the dipshits that advocated for it.

Miami
They've basically played High School JV teams. Are we sure that they're as good as the adoring media portrays them to be?

Exactly.
Folks saying Alabama and Georgia haven't played anybody, but their schedules are practically a murderer's row compared to Miami's.

Should be a good one. Might be the only good one.

CFB is the best sport in the world. No it does not suck this year.

The players switch teams every year. No cohesion

It’s like watching the NFL
No thanks

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.
Georgia and Bama are looking like the only legit teams this year.
Maybe some others will develop over the season, but I'm seeing a lot of shitty teams out there.

They were talking about this on WJOX this week. Viewership of college football is down almost 10% this season compared to last year.
And I think a big part of that is because, as a dedicated college football fan going back to the late-1970s, I can see the quality of play is suffering. Individual performances are outstanding, some of these guys are making plays that seemed impossible 10-20 years ago. But the overall product is suffering because team performances are not as good or consistent as they were even 5 years ago. And what’s driving that is every season you’ve got most teams coming into the year with half of their roster being comprised of first-year guys. Yeah, a guy can bring his talents. That’s great. But it takes time to build team cohesion. And nowhere is that more obvious than on the offensive line. Offensive line play is becoming increasingly atrocious across the board. And that’s because it’s impossible to actually build a line that can work together when guys keep hopping from one team to another. Thats why many teams, looking at you Auburn, look so bad on offense. Everyone wants to blame coaches, quarterbacks, etc. but if you have a bad offensive line, your QB is going to look inept. A good offensive line will make a good QB look great. But a bad offensive line will make a great QB look terrible.

It’s that way every year.
You typically have 2-3 teams with loaded rosters that separate from everyone else for most of the year. A few teams start to creep up and make noise. Maybe a few upsets happen.
But in the long run, it’ll probably be those 2-3 teams.
Do an AI chat with the following prompt:
quote:
what was the preseason top 5 and final top 5 in college football for the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 years?
You’ll see mostly the same names in the preseason top 5 and postseason top 5.
This is why conference expansion doesn’t work and why the transfer portal only exacerbates the problem.
It doesn’t matter if Auburn doesn’t win an NC if I can watch them compete with and win against Ole Miss, LSU, Florida, Miss St, Bama, Georgia, and the other tradition SEC teams on our annual schedule. But now losing many of those regional rivalries diminishes the quality of the season. 5-4 Auburn vs 5-4 LSU might do jack shite for ratings but it meant a lot to the programs from a cultural standpoint. 5-4 Auburn vs 5-4 Missouri? Oklahoma? No one cares, even the fanbases.
So CFB is sucking, but not for the OP’s reasons.

Next year will be a totally different landscape. Teams no longer reload, they rebuild every year.

Yeah, the product is junk. There are some gifted athletes sure, but the development is just not there.
Saban was right about everything tbh

All of CFB sucks and to be honest any NC from about 2016 and past would beat any NC since then. When they actually played def and had a real power run game. This game is fairly soft compared to what we used to watch.
