WINNERS

ALABAMA

When are the Tide not winners on signing day? Well, after losing the SEC recruiting crown to Georgia in February, some wondered if Nick Saban had lost his recruiting fastball. Turns out, that’s not the case, and Alabama once again reeled in several big fish. The day started off well when The Tide flipped Rivals250 defensive back Jordan Battle from Ohio State, and continued to roll as the school beat out Georgia and others for five-star running back Trey Sanders and five-star offensive tackle Evan Neal. The Bulldogs got the best of Saban and company by landing five-star linebacker Nakobe Dean, but that was basically the only blemish on a very good day for the Tide.

FLORIDA

While Florida State and Miami saw several targets slip out of or though their fingers, the Gators were celebrating after landing a trio of in-state four-stars. Tight end Keon Zipperer, defensive end Lloyd Summerall and offensive lineman Deyavie Hammond all made their announcements on national TV, only furthering the perception that it was a strong close by Dan Mullen and company. Florida would have loved to have landed Sanders and missing him hurts. But all and all, it was a good day for the Gators and definitely better than their “Big Three” counterparts.

GEORGIA

The Bulldogs may have missed on Sanders and Neal, but many schools weren’t even in the discussion to land either elite talent and pulling Dean away from LSU, Alabama and others is a big enough win for the school alone. But after news broke that former five-star Justin Fields might be transferring, the Dawgs suddenly had a need for a quarterback. Enter Rivals250 Ohio State commit Dwan Mathis, who flipped his pledge from the Buckeyes to the Bulldogs and signed Wednesday. It was the fourth commitment of Mathis’ recruitment, but for Georgia fans it was the most important. Georgia could add even more talent as things unfold at the major all-star games in January, so its winning ways might not be done just yet.

TEXAS A&M

There were plenty of jokes about Jimbo Fisher’s large price tag when he left Florida State for Texas A&M, but so far he’s been a pretty good investment for the Aggies. Texas A&M currently sits at No. 3 in the team recruiting rankings, just behind the Tide and the Bulldogs, the clear top two schools in the SEC at the moment. Both of those programs were built by elite recruiting classes, and thanks to a late flip of Derick Hunter from Florida State and official signings of five-stars Kenyon Green and Erick Young, it was a great day for Texas A&M.

LOSERS

OLE MISS/MISSISSIPPI STATE

Each of these schools is coming off a forgettable day on the recruiting trail. Both programs saw elite players from the state of Mississippi bolt for other opportunities, with Derick Hall spurning the Bulldogs for SEC-rival Auburn, and Dean leaving the Rebels high and dry to sign with Georgia. Add in the fact that three-star defensive back Raydarious Jones elected to head south to LSU to play defensive back rather than stay in state and that Brandon Turnage also decided to stick with Alabama rather than flip to Ole Miss and it was an all-around forgettable day for the two rivals.

Recruiting rankings, unless you are consistently top 5, are basically meaningless. It's about development and getting the right players to address your needs.

Grats on a mythical high recruiting class though!

Let's settle things on the field

Rosebowl is that you? Rosey says that same crap every year. If State's players get in the gym and do what the Coaches ask they can be good players.

22 announced signed.

One announces later today (his birthday). I believe already sent in paperwork.

One announcing at All Star game. (rumored to have already sent in paperwork)

2 four star commits are Feb signees rumored getting school work in order. These two may be vulnerable.

Wut?They finished 8th in the conference and even Arkansas had a better class

Mullen should be killing it with instate rivals sucking.

LSU did pretty well and still has some spots open to challenge for the top 2 overall. So much for the hope others had of Orgeron sinking the ship. Who knows if he will win a NC but LSU will remain a solid program never far from doing it.

Spoken like someone who is a fan of a team that doesn’t recruit well.

Statistics back it up. Stars and winning definitely correlate. You need talent to win at a high level.

I will agree it is more meaningful at the top level. There is a bigger difference between 1 and 5 than there is between 25 and 30.

Filling needs, recruiting top players at their positions while filling those needs, signing an Elite QB, Elite OLman, DL and LBs and doing it consistently, is what separates the good from the top dogs.

One class helps but it won't do anything unless it's followed up. Players get hurt, tired, suspended, mess up, don't develop, don't go to class. Things happen and if you do it consistently, you can take those licks and keep rolling through the season. Lsu needs to keep doing it at this type of high level and so does any other team hoping to compete for a playoff spot every year.

Fact is LSU had a horrible offseason when it comes to losing projected starters and during the season losing some to injury. That won't happen every year plus everyone in the top 10 has just added lots of depth or key players who can help their team.

As of now the top 4 in the country are

Alabama
Georgia
LSU
A&M

That's insane competition in the SEC west and its looking like this LSU vs A&M game might just be a real rivalry. It's time one of us competes and beats Bama. I think it's much more healthy of a conference if we had 3 teams out of the west and a few from the east competing and beating bama every other year. With all 4 to 6 taking their turn in the playoff run. Not one team beating every team every year. Of course Bama fans will say nonsense but if that were to happen and we did catch up with them then as a national power the SEC would be the deepest conference by a good margin and that's good for ALL TEAMS in the SEC.

Go Tigers!!!

Spoken like a loser trying to find any sort of win to latch onto.

You keep winning at recruiting and we will continue kicking that Aggie arse all over the field.

deal?

Just to remind you, no players on your roster next year have ever won a game vs MSU, yet you "win" at recruiting every single year.

What else are they supposed to do? They don’t play the game. Plus if I was an A&M fan I’d just sit back and laugh knowing what’s coming. Recruits win games. And with Moorhead’s overrated arse in there I assume A&M won’t be losing to state anytime soon

15.

4 IMG kids don't count.

3 were committed and left when McElwain shitted everything up.

2 we are still recruiting. 75/25 on 1, 25/75 on the other.

The remaining 6:

Akeem Dent, committed to FSU under Jimbo. May end up at Bama.

Khris Bogle, going to Bama.

Jordan Battle, going to Bama.

Will Putnam, going to Clemson.

Rian Davis, going to UGA.

Brendan Gant, committed to FSU but hasn't signed. Huge position of need but like several others on this list, he never considered UF. Kinda dumb if you ask me, he would be a Day 1 starter at safety.

We have a better class than Arky...and only difference is we don’t pay for play. Georgia will crash and burn just like Ole Miss. Just like Ole Miss...with no titles to show for it.
