Kirby is Les Miles without Bama. Prior to Miles really losing his grip. Once Kirby gives over control of the offense to someone who knows what to do with all the talent UGA will get over the hump.
Kirby is literally doing that NOW! Todd Monken is the new OC that ran a wide open offense as HC at Southern Miss and stints as OC in NFL for Bucs and Browns.

I think one of the things that people forget is that it take a little luck, in the right place at the right time, usually, to win a natty.
Look at Tennesee’s last natty, when the kid from Arkansas literally put the ball on the ground to give the game away. Or Auburn in 2013 who lost to FSU In the end but it took TWO miracles in back to back weeks just to get there. Or Bama in 2017 with a 2nd and 26 miracle throw from a true freshman after taking a sack that should have put an end to it. Or even UGA, back in 1980, with a miracle last minute TD to win the game in Jacksonville.
Kirby has put UGA right in the thick of it - and there is no reason to expect things not to break right sooner, rather than later.
He’s moving the parts he needs and continuing to bring in high talent and coaches. But there’s only so much one can do - what if Nauta, Ridley and Hardeman hadn’t gone pro early last year, or Holloman didn’t leave the team? Maybe that would have been the year.
Just have to keep chopping and hope it all lines up like it did for LSU this year.

I wouldn't call it dominating. The difference between the top 3 or 4 is pretty marginal. Kirby is recruiting very well but so are some other guys

UGA does not dominate recruiting. The difference between our class and LSU's class at 4 is approximately one 5 star and a 3 star. That is not dominating.

Kirby has this working against him. I don't know which way it'll go for him. But I'll be watching.
It took Saban 10yrs as a head coach before he won his first Natty.
Dabo did it in only 9yrs.
Kirby has 6 years left to tie Saban’s record but only 5yrs to tie Dabo.
All the Kirby bashing is so short-sighted. Basically he has become a victim of his own quick success. Let it breathe. If you want to come at Kirby after a similar amount of time as Dabo and Nick got, then that’s fair. Kirby’s 1st recruiting class hasn’t even graduated yet. Kirby appears to be loosening his reigns on the offense with coaching hires made of Todd Monken and Buster Faulkner.
You don’t get to put a 40yr championship-less stretch on a coach with a 4yr tenure.

It has been awful since 2017, FSU didn’t finish the season close to being ranked
They were preseason #3 and had earned it. They were a 11 win team in 2016 and were bringing back just about everyone. Francois broke his leg late in the Alabama game and they fell apart at the seams.
It's hard to give Alabama shite about their scheduling with all of these kickoff classics against what should be pretty good teams.

Ok hope for UGA they open it up. All that does is catch them up to Bama and LSU.
The recruiting class ratings are so close that once a team is in the top 5 anyway it does not matter.
UGA came to Baton Rouge in 2018.. to play against the old LSU team and offense. Georgia told us they had 20 five stars in the line up.. Fromm was right up with Tua as the best QB in the SEC.. Kirby was the best coach in the country not named Saban.. and Orgeron was a joke.. Burrow was a nice game manager.
We beat them 36 to 16.
Same story in 2019 except Georgia defense was the best that LSU had ever seen.. no defense even close to Georgia’s. Orgeron was still lucky.. flash in pan with a generational talent at QB. Whatever.
We beat them 37 to 10.
No idea where the Kirby is a great coach comes from. Richt recruited extremely well at Georgia.
Athens is a great college town..ATLANTA is an hour away. Great resources for the program. Georgia has a great high school football talent base. How could a coach not recruit well at UGA.

2019, UGA had 9 of 22 starters rated 3 star or less.
2018, UGA had 4 of 22 starters rated 3 stars or less. 4 more starters were 4 stars rated under .9100.
The top recruiting classes started in 2017 and were upperclassmen just last season (seniors this coming season).
My expectation for 2020 is 5 players starting at 3 stars or less (one of those is an OL who may not win the job but he was our first LG off the bench in 2019 when Kindley got hurt).
There is only 1 other starter rated .9100 or less (Monty Rice will be a 3 year starter).
With the 2017 class (#3 in the country) being seniors and the 2018 (#1 class in the country) being juniors, our talent on the field is improving over the last 2 years.
I'm not sure why this is so difficult to understand. 14 starters will be .9600 or better compared to 7 in 2019.

You are so full of shite. Joe Burrow beat UGA moreso than LSU did. Granted, he wasn’t dominant in 2018 but Burrow was reason LSU won in 2018 as well as he played great in that game - that plus Death Valley.
Hope Dawgs play LSU in 2020 but not likely to happen as Bama probably takes back the SECW.
LSU fans like yourself trying to make the case that the LSU program is ahead of UGA - based off one glorious season with the best college QB season of all time.
You need a reality check - and you will get it this year.

I don’t think that’s a hard case to make...
They have a natty in very recent memory. We don’t.

It’s a hard case to make if you consider more than one season at a time. 3 out of last 4 years, UGA had a better season.
While it’s fun for SEC fans from other teams to bludgeon UGA with the “40yrs since a Natty” talk - it’s clear that UGA is the 2nd best program in the SEC now and has been for the last 3 years. All the “Ricky Bobby” analysis aside, UGA is the 2nd best program right now.

You can argue we’re the second best program going forward.
We are not the second best program of the last 3-4 years. That’s LSU.

You are wrong. LSU was better program THIS in 2019. UGA was better overall over last 3 years.

2018? We lost to LSU 36-16. LSU finished 10-3. UGA finished 11-3. Post season record the last 3 years, LSU 4-1, UGA 3-2. LSU was the better program the last 3 years.

Debatable. Pretty sure LSU finished ranked ahead of UGA 2 out of the 3 years. While I agree there's not much separation between LSU and UGA the last 3 years, their natty win gives them the bump. Not a slight to UGA since LSU has been a top program over that time-frame. Clemson/Bama/LSU would be tier 1, followed by UGA/OU/OSU imo.
