He really didn't the 2nd half of his career in relative terms.Saban,Boom and Les routinely beat em and he was also horrible at roster mgt.

I was at the game. It wasn’t close. Yall scored a late td in garbage time to pull it to one score. I never said the UT win was better than Notre Dame, but UT is still clearly way better GSU and southern miss

7 points is 7 points. UGA essentially gave the game away with the special team mistakes and still kept it close. I just think it’s odd to diminish the Notre Dame win, when Auburn is the only SEC team to have a better ooc regular season win. LSU typically schedules decent ooc competition. Bama and UF typically do not.

Review the schedule in the Saban era and I am pretty sure you will find that Alabama has opened with more top 20 teams than probably any other team in the SEC, including

Florida State in 2017
USC in 2016
Wisconsin in 2015
West Virginia in 2014
Virginia Tech in 2013
Michigan in 2012
Penn State the 2nd game in 2011 & 2010
Virginia Tech in 2009
Clemson in 2008

Granted, there is no way to know what the opponent will rank when the game is scheduled. USC for next year's opener is an example.

most were neutral sites, as if that makes a difference to the point.

you are welcome, but I'm just glad to see the silly trash talk isn't allowed here. The Rant is pretty useless for actual discussion.

It is though. Just check any UF related thread.

I haven't spent much time on this forum, but yeah, I'm sure there is some trash talk. I guess I should have said little compared to the Rant cesspool.

It has been awful since 2017, FSU didn’t finish the season close to being ranked, and it’s weird Saban refuses to do home and homes.

It does. Away games are more difficult than neutral site games. Not sure how you disagree on that.

your comment to which I responded

"LSU typically schedules decent ooc competition. Bama and UF typically do not."

You didn't mention a thing about home and home, and it's beside the point. You're just trying to spin it away now because it doesn't fit your agenda.

I don’t have to spin it. Bama hasn’t had an ooc opponent finish ranked since 2016. This year’s Bama ooc was a joke. Southern miss, NMSU, and Duke...

But what are they doing with that talent? Kirby Smart is Mark Richt 2.0.

Their best season in 40 years? 3 straight trips to the SECC? 3 top 10 finishes? Being one of two SEC coaches with a winning record against top 10 opponents?

terrible coach

Disagree. He’s 33-3 in the last 3 regular seasons, 11-1 each year. I don’t think that fits anyone’s definition of “terrible.” Game management and (perceived) over involvement in the offense have been his most complained about issues and it appears he’s made a good move to fix the offense. Most all new coaches grow as game managers as well. I’m not concerned and I’m glad Kirby is our guy.

Agreed.

Compare kirby's first 4 years to Saban and Swinneys first 4 years as a head coach. Kirby is doing great as a young head coach.

This...

SECRant and this board would have you believe Kirby Smart has been a HC for 40yrs all the way back to 1981.

Kirby’s phenomenal early success getting to the Natty in Year 2 and being defeated in OT - the trolls don’t use that to credit him but to trash him. 4 seasons - that’s all - yeah we want a Natty but UGA fans recognize Kirby’s just getting started and everyone here knows it. Kirby is now showing ability to adapt an offensive philosophy with coaching hires. Lost Great Mel Tucker as DC last year and replaced him with Dan Lanning who has shown greatness - replaced Sam Pittman with Matt Luke and now we have offensive mind in Todd Monken.

UGA is built to last and will be in the mix the next decade.

Kirby's very first senior class (which wasn't even of the caliber of his subsequent classes, had the best Defense in the nation.

To approximate his prospects going forward, all anyone needs to see is the is his demonstrated willingness to adapt offensively. He's shown it, but we'll really see next season.

Trolling notwithstanding, UGA has as bright a future with Kirby as any program in the country save maybe OSU and Clemson.
