Compare kirby's first 4 years to Saban and Swinneys first 4 years as a head coach. Kirby is doing great as a young head coach.

Kirby inherited a 10 win team full of All Americans.

Saban inherited a 5 win Michigan State program.

Dabo inherited a meh squad at a meh program in a state that doesn’t produce much HS talent.

None of that matters if you can't close. Richt had some really good teams and couldn't quite get over that hump. So yes he is mark richt 2.0 lol.

Alabama's 2019 schedule was bad, but every other of Smart's 4 years, Alabama had a tougher out of conference schedule or marquee game than did UGA.

2018 UGA 14th among 14 teams LINK

2017 top 15 non conference games (couldn't find strength of schedule for that year) LINK

2016 LINK

Kirby's very first senior class (which wasn't even of the caliber of his subsequent classes, had the best Defense in the nation.

To approximate his prospects going forward, all anyone needs to see is the is his demonstrated willingness to adapt offensively. He's shown it, but we'll really see next season.

Trolling notwithstanding, UGA has as bright a future with Kirby as any program in the country save maybe OSU and Clemson.

The only reason to put Clemson or OSU ahead is the conferences - just harder to get a clear shot every year in SEC with Bama, LSU, Auburn and Florida. At some point, ATM and Tenn could get better as well.

I'm sure they will. To my chagrin, Tennessee won't stay down forever, and Fisher is recruiting well.

2016- Bama. I said bama’s was better. USC that year I believe.
2017- UGA. Notre Dame finished top 10 or top 15. FSU did not finish ranked.
2018- UGA. While GT wasn’t great at 7-6, Louisville finished 2-10.
2019- UGA. Notre Dame finishes top 15 while bama played duke, southern miss, and NMSU.

If you want overall schedule then I’d say Bama gets 2016 and maybe 2018 off the top of my head. UGA had more ranked opponents in 2017 and 2019. Even though I’m fairly sure UGA had more ranked opponents in 2018 with UF, Kentucky, Auburn, and LSU, I don’t feel like looking up Bama’s schedule. Bama has had 2-3 ranked regular season opponents to deal with for a while now. If they split auburn and LSU then they get a bye during the SECC and a free trip to the playoffs. Not sure if it’s SEC bias or Bama bias, but ppl don’t criticize bama’s schedule as much as others.

UGA has made concerted effort to upgrade its OOC schedule since Kirby got here. We added Clemson, Oklahoma and several others coming up in the out years.

That's funny.
Kirby inherited Grayson Lambert at QB and Tyler Catalina at LT.
And there were NO all americans from 2015.
The only good senior in 2016 was a grad transfer that Kirby took from Alabama.
There was a good junior class. But the senior class was non-existent. Literally no one worth a damn.

If you dont know... dont pretend. Some people think Tennessee fans can talk football and you are hurting that reputation.

Would you mind naming all of those All-Americans?

This has been gone over so many times most Georgia people are tired of saying it...but....
Richt was great at recruiting RB's, QB's, some LBs, DBs. His weakness was recruiting OLinemen and DLinemen. We were in pretty bad shape there, and what we had had no depth behind them.

Of all the position groups you need to be strong at in the SEC, it is OLine and Dine.

They were all sophomores before Kirby inherited them.

Why dont you list the junior class from 2015?

Roquan had played spot duty as a freshman. Baker was a 3* bench warmer who had never seen the field in any capacity.

I'll grant that Chubb and Michel were on their way, but Chubb's knee was held together with duct tape and bubble gum when Kirby arrived.

Aaaaand none of those players were All-Americans in 2016.

In fact, Georgia did not have a single AA in 2016.

Yeah. The east that beat the west head to head in 2018 and split evenly with the west in 2019. Seems that little narrative doesn't hold water any more.

Would you like to try again, little Timmy?

Good post. On top of that, I’d add that it can almost be easier to recruit some kids when you haven’t won it all so you can say “come be a part of our team to break through. You’ll be a legend”, etc.

Some of our fans got all butthurt by your post which makes no sense to me

Kirby is Les Miles without Bama. Prior to Miles really losing his grip. Once Kirby gives over control of the offense to someone who knows what to do with all the talent UGA will get over the hump.
