The reason why recruiting is dominated by the south.

There is an article by sporting news that list the top states with the most players per capita in the NFL in 2013. This shouldn't surprise anyone:
1. Louisiana
2. South Carolina
3. Mississippi
4. Alabama
5. Florida
6. Georgia
This is why the SEC stays on top.

I s anyone else intrigued by the middle of nowhere Alaska spike?

It's probably Anchorage, Alaska. Big African American population there, if I am correct.

That's Fairbanks. Anchorage is the other orange/red area south of it.

The real question: since the racial demographics haven't exactly changed much for, I don't know, over a hundred years, why is the SEC just now (last 10 years) building a dynasty in recruiting?
IMO good players go to the best programs. If Saban went to Nebraska, Nebraska would get good players.
Proximity helps but it isn't the deciding factor by any stretch.

SEC programs have only started investing on par with the traditional northern powers in the last 20-25 years. Also, TV exposure for southern schools has increased dramatically.
Another factor is improvement in school systems in the South. A lot of the best players haven't been able to qualify. There's been improvement in that area. High school coaching has also improved.

Yes but it would be more difficult for him. A lot more difficult. I doubt he would be able to pull a #1 class at Nebraska. Nebraska was built on partial qualifiers, but the rules changed. They can't do that anymore. They also used to have the best facilities of anyone, but now the pack has caught up to them.

Why are the Northern state so racist that minorities don't want to live there?

You also have to take into account this is a percentage, not population and then also the historical aspect of the south as well

Another reason, the SEC hasn't had national respect in football. The BIG was considered to be the better conference, even though they have only won 2 NC in 40 years, and most of their success was pre-intergration of the sport. Same goes for ND. That's why I laugh at school's claiming their number of wins as an indication of program success.
