Since 2000 the women's tournament has showed mostly consistent attendance growth. In that time-span, Greenville attendance has been quite well in comparison to the other sites that have hosted the tournament, frequently beating out larger destinations like Nashville and Jacksonville.

Last year's attendance was just shy of 65K, a significant jump from the previous year in Greenville's 52K and the last time Nashville hosted in 2022 which was 51k. If LSU and Texas continue to maintain success, I could see them moving it further west to accomodate those schools, especially if Greenville's attendance stagnates or declines. I couldn't find this year's attendance yet.
It's an OK city. I've been living here for a couple of years but plan to head back south in a few years.

Riverfront park is nice, and there are lots of great outdoorsy things to do around the area.

Huge homeless/drug problem though, based on enablist politics. Most of the problematic areas are between South of Riverside Ave and i90 downtown. Unfortunately, there are many solid restaurants and venues in this area too.

Also, it is pronounced, Spo-Can

When people criticize Vandy for being shitty at other sports, they need to look at baseball and realize what Vandy CAN do if they actually want to.

Vandy baseball had a meteoric rise because they hired a great coach in Corbin but also because they took advantage of scholarship loopholes. These loopholes basically allowed them to have all of their baseball roster on full-ride scholarships. This is accomplished by mixing and matching their need-base tuition program with their athletic scholarship limit. Public schools with larger student populations and often times smaller endowments can't compete with Vandy's scholorship programs and are limited to 11.7 athletic scholorship limit. Vandy can't really replicate this tactic in other sports with larger scholorship limits.
I'd take Captain Kangaroo as a coach. The man was quite a pimp back in the day.

SC seems to be the only state in which the traditional technical school has the upper hand in football

Virginia/Virginia Tech and Purdue/Indiana are the other main ones. There might be a few other obscure ones out west, but you're right there aren't many.

Auburn has an 86 year win streak and counting on South Carolina

SC won in 1933,Auburn was not able to achieve victory over the Gamecocks until 1996. In continuation with the theme of this thread, that is 63 years of bragging rights over Auburn's measly 23.

ostarine which supposedly is not for sell legally anywhere in the world.

i'm kind of confused as to how a freshman out of small town Seneca SC could have got a PED on the black market.

It sounds like it most likely was in a supplement that the players / Clemson didn't know about.

SARMs are pretty well known about within the body building/fitness community. There are several websites a google search away to find SARMS for sell online, ostarine included. They're generally labeled "not for human consumption" or "for research purposes only" as a legal loophole.

Just google "Ostarine Solution" or "SARM Solutions" you'll easily find the sites.

SARMs are not however in any supplement you buy from GNC or vitamin shoppe, etc.

At this point, I can't believe Dabo is as dumb as he acts on the subject. Since the players failed tests, someone has had to at least educated him on the what SARMs are and their ease of availability.

The most innocent case I can think that could have occurred is they might have had a workout shake with a gym buddy that put the stuff in it. Otherwise the players were knowingly taking the stuff, whether they knew it was a banned substance or not.

That ruling was adjudicated in court several years ago. There is a legal ruling on it. SoCar didn’t give up on anything - a judge decided.

Actually, that ruling was about "SC" which South Carolina continues to use on their baseball hats, never was it about "USC". Basically South Carolina quit using the interlocking SC logo and stupidly let the trademark expire. Then began using it again, and the Trojans then field a suit.

LINK

South Carolina has never let the USC logo expire, and I figure they have learned their lesson and will keep using it on some attire. Much like how Southern California, prints shirts with Southern Cal on them only to keep the trademark.

First they are going to do this to the state house steps.

Then do the same thing to SC, metaphorically of course.

people put ketchup on bbq?

Not straight ketchup, using ketchup as a base, sometimes referred to as heavy tomato based. Most of the the BBQ sauces throughout the USA are either tomato paste or ketchup as their main ingredient. It's probably what you are used to eating.

This seems like a general conflict of interest for a coach to have the authority to fire team/school doctor or a director of rehab.

Some of that improvement to his hairline is definitely from a touch up spray or a dye product.

Technically Arkansas and SC use the same color, PMS 202. Arkansas once shared the same color as UGA with Pantone 200. They switched to our color code a couple of years ago.

Because words like "some" or "many" equals "all" right?

that black people would refuse to go to Clemson simply b/c of a disagreement with the coach on something

Many players regardless of color choose not to go to schools that offer them because of disagreements or different views with coaching staff, be it political beliefs or football ideology this isn't anything new.
quote:

It sounds to me that if you were a football coach, you would say things even if you don't believe them, because you think you have to say them to get recruits. Doesn't that make you a phony?

That's a major jump to conclusion, Are you assuming I agree with Dabo's views but hide my beliefs?

I think most if not all players would like to be paid in addition to their scholarship. Many of these schools brings in millions of dollars off these kids that play a very violent and injury prone game and the full cost of school isn't even covered.Seriously, Would you turn down a raise? This is going to be a continuing issue that's not going away anytime soon, there's a reason Northwestern attempted to unionize.

Anyway Dabo's a heck of a recruiter and finds ways to convince and bond with players even if they might have an initially poor first impression of him from his interaction with the media. Now with a national title it is going to be even harder to recruit against him.

I didn't mean he backtracks on anything, perhaps I could have worded it differently. I was merely pointing out that he has been so successful with recruiting in spite of his comments, which could be viewed by many as anti-player or out of touch with different demographics.

I'll admit I actually read one of the Dabo anthem headlines wrong and made a mistake, he said he wouldn't punish players for protesting. It was just his comments on the subject that upset DeAndre Hopkins and drew the ire of some African-Americans.
It definitely annoys me a that we haven't beat you guys since joining the SEC. I guess it surprises me a bit you guys try to sell the 84 years thing so much, heck we had the last win before the 63 break between play.

Anyway to answer question, none of them really. I probably dislike Tennessee the most though, mainly because of Haynesworth, all the close losses, and how they once recruited the Carolinas so heavily... oh yeah and they're orange.
Dabo's recruiting ability is impressive. It's quite amazing considering how he comes off as a bit of a buffoon frequently. He's even made some statements to the media that I figure would drive players away, like being against paying players stating, "“I’ll go do something else because there’s enough entitlement in this world as there is" even though he's making over 5 million a year in salary, endorsements, and bonuses. He also stated he would punish players that did not stand for the national anthem if they were in the situation where his team was on the field during the anthem.
You got to be a heck of a salesman to recover from remarks like those.
quote:

why hasn't SC been the better football program across time

I'll actually give you a somewhat reasonable answer to that question, a lot of factors to consider over history.

-Tillmanism: Clemson's founder had a grudge against what he viewed as the "elitists" at USC and other schools (The Citadel), during his time in office. He did a pretty good job defunding USC and thus USC became the smaller of the two main state schools.

(The effects of Tillman's past policies began to lessen post WW2 when USC began to rapidly expand as few Vet wanted to go to a military school like Clemson, SC became the largest university in the state again. During the era of the late 1940s through the 50s SC's win total vs Clemson significantly increased up until SC's departure of the ACC.)

-Being Independent for decades- Leaving the ACC and being independent set SC back facility wise for years in comparison to other schools by the 90s and early 2000s. Also pretty much destroyed the basketball program at the time. Basically 1970s when SC became independent you'll notice Clemson start racking up a significant numbers of wins over SC again.
-Fundraising- honestly I'll admit in the past Clemson fans seemed to care more about donating to the football program than USC graduates/fans, even if all they had to give was potatoes. Also Clemson has a bit more of a "football comes first" over other sports in comparison to SC.

So really I'd say the two largest factors would be Tillman's defunding policies of USC after the founding of his university and SC going independent are probably the greatest contributing factors to SC's lack of success/Clemson's win total over SC.

Honestly it probably isn't a bad hire, just needs a good Offensive coordinator and he has ties to the school. I know you guys feel like he isn't the sexy hire but he's proven twice now that he can step in and coach teams pretty well.

re: Is LSU a top 10 job?

Posted by SirCocky on 11/25/16 at 2:41 pm
There's so many factors to take in to account for coaching these days. Schools that may be viewed as top tier/prestigious some coaches may be totally uninterested in. Talent pool, money, and prestige I think LSU is very close to that top ten in those categories, but it is also high pressure and I think the right coach needs to enjoy what the region/culture has to offer.
