I got word that Austin Golson has transfered to Autauga Academy along with a few other Prattville players and will be flipping his commitment from FSU to Bama. Was not given a time table for him flipping, but I trust the person who told me as he is close to these players.

I would like to see him at Alabama, but it was always my understanding that if he flipped it would be to Auburn. Though AU has a very young offensive line and Alabama is in need of OTs for the future.

But OL??? WTF? I'll just say and hope we pull some good ones soon.

How are you disappointed with Grant Hill and Bradley Bozeman. If Alabama can really add Austin Golson and Kenneth Santa Marina, I'll be a happy camper.

Quote from a person on BOL who is a coach in Prattville area, sounds like the closest to the actual situation

quote:

He has not switched schools but is looking at it so he can enroll at FSU OR BAMA next jan ( early enrollee)
He still has FSU on top but bama has slowly and gradually made up ground. AU is out of it for all intents and purposes. He does come from an auburn family and influence but is more influenced by his grand parents and his uncle rather than his parents.
His uncle is a solid , solid person and has austins best interest at heart - but is a graduate of AU. Again , they are pretty much out of it- so that should tell you something.
Gonna come down to D. Craig vs K. Smart/ CNS decision He loves DC because he thinks DC understands him and his life , plus they bull rushed him right from the outset - even before us - doesn't happen much but did this time! Trooper has pretty much botched it for AU. Really likes Kirby as well and KS is doing a FANTASTIC job with him but just had soooo much ground to make up. Uncle is impressed with KS big time and hopes Austin chooses bama but will allow him to decide.
Bottom line is we are behind but still in it and SLOWLY gaining ground because dc is still recruiting him hard. I do think his home state is " calling him" though and in the end , if we continue to recruit him , I think he swings to us. Lack of depth at tackle does matter and Please know they read this stuff so be cognizant of your comments !!

This is his post about Golson from one year ago.

quote:

his parents are NOT booger grads and while they have the upper hand because of the rest of his family , we have an outstanding shot at landing him .
his uncle , who has been HEAVILY involved in raising him - is a grad of booger u and a fan , however ; he will be advising austin to do what is best for his future !
the color he is most concerned with is GREEN ! he knows austin is a rare talent , w/ a rare body (no homo - 6'6'' -280 @ age 15 !!!) and realizes that austin has potential to turn those attributes into a good education and a life on easy st financially , if he learns and stays in the right environment . uncle knows CNS is the man and knows that bamas program is the "gold standard " . we have almost as much chance as the boogers right now and i can assure you ; if stuff continues to "happen" at Cheat U then we have a GREAT chance of landing him . trust me on this - i am close to the situation

For the board I'll send quotes, sent you & Saint mail though

quote:

"I like at Alabama, I saw the way they used their tight ends in the national championship," Smith said. "That really caught my attention with Alabama."

quote:

"Coach Burns is really interested in me," Smith said. "He likes the way I play, how I use my body and my hands real well. I like how Alabama uses a double-tight end set end set basically the whole game."

quote:

"I'm looking to, if not start, get some playing time," Smith said. "I'm very confident that I will get early playing time, but it takes hard work."

Austin Golson is a huge Auburn fan and would walk around school talking about how much he hated Alabama and Saban. I don't know why that would change all of a sudden but being in Tuscaloosa now, I don't know as much about the people in prattville.

Meh. All we have to do is throw it around to our TE's some this year and problem solved. He was sending a message to LSU.

Playing time, at least on paper, would come sooner at Alabama than AU. They are much younger on the OL. That is assuming he's going to ditch FSU.
