I'm starting to get perturbed with our OL and QB recruiting. QB is understandable... We don't put out top notch guys and our offense is built around playing smart and managing the game... But OL??? WTF? I'll just say
and hope we pull some good ones soon.

You must have missed my post on the page before this one. Apparently Golson is transferring from Prattville and will decommit from FSU to us. No timetable but OJ is supposedly been working on him.

So would Golson have to sit out this year?
Posted on 3/2/12 at 9:33 am to TreyAnastasio
don't think so since Autaga Academy is a smaller classification private institution

Maybe someone can pull some strings to get Reuben over there
Thisa team might be beastly by the time we get through transferring prospects in he he

Didnt Casher do the same thing last year?

Okay, I'm officially over the Hackenberg situation.
I've spent this morning watching film of some of the other QBs and here are my thoughts:
Ryan Burns:

Burns has good size and an above average arm. He has an extreme case of "happy feet" in the pocket. He also did not take one snap from center in his highlight video.
Cooper Bateman:

Skinny kid. Good arm. Has better footwork than Burns, but again, another QB that's not usually working from under Center. If I had to pick between Bateman and Burns, I would pick Bateman. So he gets a:
Riley Ferguson:

Good mechanics. Good arm. Looks bigger than his listed size. Has very good footwork. It was nice to see him taking snaps under Center. He kind of reminds me of Phillip Ely. Both came from traditional powerhouse programs so it's hard to tell how good he really is, but he certainly makes you want to like him by his film.

Another QB thread:
Austin Allen:

Even though he doesn't currently have an Alabama offer, I think I like Allen the most out of the QBs I've looked at today. He's built like a college player already, although he is shorter than the other 3 players. He has very good footwork and a live arm. He is elusive when the pocket breaks down and he can throw well on the move. He has very good mechanics as well, almost as good as Hackenberg.

yes... i think it depends on if Autauga Academy is AISA or AHSAA 1A... AISA are independent schools.
It doesn't make a whole lotta sense why he'd transfer... playing 6A competition will help his development out way more than facing a bunch of 5-10 175 LB defensive ends at private school.

quote:Read an article where Golson committed to FSU right after his 10th grade season was over. Was extremely pro FSU and said it was awesome.
Apparently Golson is transferring from Prattville and will decommit from FSU to us.

"Florida State, man it's awesome down there. It's a great environment, great campus, and they have great coaches. I just in fell in love with it."
Golson knew where he belonged, and he knew early
He's the one that got Shanks to visit and commit to FSU. Also D. Craig is his recruiter.
quote:
Golson's teammate, Justin Shanks (2012 DT, DL), is also committed to Florida State.
"I put in a few words here and there; then Justin went to visit, and he loved it for himself."
Dameyune Craig is responsible for recruiting Golson. The two have forged a strong bond.
"He's a great man
He seemed to be all FSU.

A second son? There was one that wanted to walk-on a few years ago at Alabama. He ended up taking a swimming scholarship at Missouri.
