Was waiting for someone to say Sam Houston.

He was governor of TN, president of Texas, state senator of Texas.

Oh and commander of the Texas army.

He lived a full life.

Most of that is just anti MacArthur propaganda. The 16 year old concubine is pure slander. MacArthur was not perfect, some of what you say has truth to it, he was an egotistical bastard, and he was not a perfect general, but he did not achieve his rank out of nothing, he become one of the highest ranking generals for a reason, he did not have to go back to free the Philippines but he did it anyway, saving countless lives in the process, and his time as the governor of Japan post war is probably the biggest reason they are as advanced as a society and as friendly with the us today. He was called the gaijin(foreigner) shogun, and became very respected by the Japanese people post war which helped change their entire perception of America, from hatred and disdain to awe.

Sam Davis. Young kid who was a solider that captured by the Yankees, they hung him because he refused to divulge any information. His last words before being hung were something to the effect of “I’d rather die a thousand deaths than to betray a friend”.

He already betrayed an entire country. Sounds like he was either a hypocrite or not too bright

Noble act, even if a bit historically skewed for political reasons. However, his inspiration serving as a rallying cry that gave birth to the KKK make it hard for me to support.

exactly. Which is why it’s dumb that MacArthur gets pointed out for it.

Final resting place: Calvary Cemetery, 5239 W Florissant Ave, St. Louis, MO. Would salute it whenever I passed through there.

Thought on this for a good while and did a lot of research, and I ended up with my grandad (maternal side). Greatest man from AL I've ever known.

Those are all great. Just wanted to add Peppy Blount a great raconteur who’s been called the Texas version of Will Rogers. An iconic World War 2 hero, former football official and tremendous athlete.

Certainly Stephen F Austin, Sam Houston Gene Autry, Carol Burnett, Buddy Holly, Debbie Renolds, Dwight Eisenhower and Beyoncé.

The guy who dicked around for hours after being alerted, resulting in our troops in the Philippines being captured and subjected to the Bataan death march?
The guy who was worried about his image constantly?
The military commander who wouldn't listen to his commander-in-chief?

You should re-title this "most popular" or "most talented," since entertainers are what most people are listing.

Missouri:
Hubble,
Twain,
and Gen. Pershing--who got 1 million+ of our men to Europe faster than anyone thought possible; then promptly told the British and French to stick it, because he wasn't putting our soldiers in trenches like they did. We avoided the disease, mental devastation and high death counts because of it.

communist, not a Christian, and watched some buddies sodomize a woman against her will. Just sat in the chair and watched. I think the FBI files get officially released in the next 5 years.

How does one fight for the right to keep raping children and forcing them to have as many a 4-5 kids between the ages of 13 & 20 and expect to go to heaven or even be thought of as a good person much less the best ever in a state. Talk about horrible person, Sam Davis is burning in hell right now.

Go research the breeding of slaves during the "Good Ol' Days".

frick the Confederacy and everyone that still honors them.
