I believe most Tiger fans say that winning two of the last three national titles is plenty good proof Jay knows what he’s doing. And Coach Mulkey knows what she’s doing as well, given her track record.

I like your point about how the football team should consider not playing such a tough opponent in the season opener. That hasn’t worked in recent years. It should be something Kiffin looks at very closely.

I looked at these OL threads and did not notice any mention of maybe the highest rated one in last year's class, Solomon Lee of Jacksonville, Florida. I recall he was injured so not available this season. Hopefully, he will stay and be ready to go this spring and next fall.

Has anyone heard much recently about his status?

And the other was a four-star OL recruit from Mississippi, Tyler Miller. I wasn't sure what happened with him also.

It's asking the near impossible to limit a very capable offensive team like Houston, played at home with NO PLAYERS OPTING OUT, and likely the nation's top tight end.

Meanwhile, LSU has its top safety, its top cornerback (and one of the nation's best) and two experienced capable linebackers not available.
I am hoping David Lafleur’s son is still there and will be ready to go full blast next season.
After looking at his last few blocking attempts, it may be a good idea for Davis to transfer.
It’s obvious a new playmaker is needed.

Just need to tolerate it.

The Kiffin interview provided us with a helpful distraction.

Let’s get an offer to him ASAP.

He should easily be an upgrade over Chester.
Then excuse yourself off to other threads while those who are interested post.

Lane Kiffin thought enough of "this guy Wolford" to name him as OL coach.

Since he seems to find solid OL coaches, this should turn into a decent hire.

Let's see how Wolford does this spring and then can make more informed judgments about him.
At the time Thompson's signing with LSU was announced, this board seemed happy to procure an experienced OL to help this team. He was believed to be talented and a solid signee.

But along with the other OL recruits, redshirts, etc., Thompson struggled. I think it was the combination of lackluster coaching by Davis, a poor job of monitoring that position group by Kelly, and perhaps Thompson taking for granted that given his experience and the players lost from the previous season, he could coast and secure his starting job.
I recall how many Ranters were down on Greg Studrawa, but he continued to coach the OL on good teams after leaving LSU.

Davis has plenty of experience and will probably resurface as an OL coach for some major college football program.
I care. I hope to see some guys play that hopefully can contribute next season, provided they do not transfer away from LSU.

Perhaps I did not agree with the majority of Tiger fans, but was hoping Echols would return. I thought a new line coach would help him.

I realize he could still leave the portal and return to LSU, but I doubt that will happen.

So best of luck to him now, wherever he plays next season.

This is the kind of coaching decision that I believe will ultimately catch up to a coach and help expedite his ouster.

That should be good news to those eagerly waiting to see McMahon gone as LSU head coach.
And Denver looks like a team that can contend for titles the next few seasons.
Yes, Willingham should pursue the Michigan job.

It is extremely difficult for a true freshman OL to come in, start and block effectively against SEC competition. Not everyone is such a quick study as Will Campbell was.

He’s an excellent prospect whose best football is in front of him. And as a few above posters noted, his natural position is guard and he was mainly playing tackle this season.

He will benefit from his experience of this past year and it’s a shame LSU can’t benefit from that for the 2026 season.
Looking at some of these posts, you would think a coach never left a football program before.
I hope the opening post is right.

However, I would really like to see both Durham and Berry playing for LSU in 2026.

To the returning players and to the new coaching staff, it is not.

It represents a chance for the new players to show them what they can do. And if gives them some precious extra practice sessions.

It gives the new coaching staff an initial evaluation of those players.
