In 1719, John Law decided to offer prisoners in Paris something they could not refuse. He offered them their freedom as long as they were willing to marry a prostitute and head off to Louisiana…

The new immigrants and the old ones were settling in the town of Biloxi (which would later be part of Mississippi but it was part of what was called Louisiana at the time and it was the part that John Law could profit from). But with the influx of criminals and other less than ideal immigrants, many of the well-to-do immigrants who had come in an attempt to shape the new colony found themselves unwilling to stick around. They started moving East to New Orleans to get away from the starving criminals that were invading their little town.

By 1720 New Orleans was growing and John Law’s Mississippi Company was losing citizens and its workforce. The colonists protested against the new immigrants and France responded by making the deportations illegal. Despite this, a third and final ship filled with prisoners arrived in 1721. The damage had already been done however and even soldiers began to move East, leaving the Mississippi coast inhabited only by the people John Law had forced to immigrate.

You might want to learn what area was considered Louisiana at the time.

This has got to be one of the biggest “own goals” this site has ever witnessed.

What horrors?

Making them work to grow their food and no conjugal visits with their gf if they misbehaved?

You must have a self loathing issue. There has been oppression in every country in the world throughout human history.

British oppressed Americans and were kicked out.

LSU fans are horrible strategists.

First they thought racism was a winning troll until people reminded them that David Duke was the last grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan ever elected to public office at a statewide level, courtesy of Louisiana voters. The cherry on top was the picture of Duke wearing a Nazi uniform on LSU’s campus when he was a student there.

Now they are trying to use the prison system to troll, another losing strategy for them. Louisiana’s Angola is the most brutal and bloody prison in the country.

But by all means continue.

At least get your facts straight before posting. Yes, there was a hospital, in Carville for those with Hansen’s Disease. They were not allowed to run rampant all over the area as your fairy tale states.

Thats the part that got you, that they were not allowed to roam about the area LOL???? Not the part about being descendants of VD riddled whores? I guess when you know your history you know your history LOL...

Damn why are the Gumps so pissy?Haha OP is trolling LSU fans (it’s funny, well done) yet they’re the ones whining and bitching like we just started a thread about the Saban glory days being over or Updyke.

It’ll be alright, Gumps.

These founders of Louisiana were eaten almost to death with various venereal diseases when they arrived in Louisiana for the first time.

From that time to the present time, due to inadequate medical care in the state of Louisiana, many of the same ancient strains of those varied and numerous venereal diseases still run rampant in just about the entire native population of the state.
I could see that being Serraneaux but I don't think he's from Louisiana. In fact, not sure he has ever been outside of the hillbilly trailer he lives in.

Just to clarify, I was responding to your comment—not the original post or the reply from whoever "Elephant Tom" is. Take it for what it's worth.
