The vast majority of Alabama and Mississippi were part of Georgia. Georgia gave the federal government part of the land in 1798 and more in 1802.
The only territorial governor of Alabama was a Georgia Senator. He later became the first governor of Alabama after statehood.
There is more to Alabama and Mississippi than Mobile and Biloxi. A lot more.

That was New Orleans when France was trying to populate a territory. Cajuns came down from Nova Scotia and migrated to Louisiana.

The vast majority of Alabama and Mississippi were part of Georgia. Georgia gave the federal government part of the land in 1798 and more in 1802.
I remember back when a huge chunk of Alabama was still part of the British South Carolina colony.
That's why the ancient sport of cockfighting is still so prevalent in Alabama. You can travel in the foothills of the Appalachians and hardly go 5 miles without seeing gamecocks staked out in people's yards, each separated from each other so they don't attack just for fun.
