I went to Georgia in the early 2000s. The "student-athletes" were barely students then, and that was long before online classes became a staple.
It really depends on how they sell it. If it is the Athens Bulldogs with a giant Home Depot or Chico's Bail Bonds logo on the jersey like professional soccer then I'm out.

No it’s hard to be excited for college football period since the transfer portal and NIL took off. You don’t even know your roster any longer from year to year.

I’m here. I watch of course and I’m not on some bitter boycott virtue mission. But several Saturdays the past couple of seasons I had better things to do. That was unheard of 10 even 5 years ago

Already am not as excited because I can’t even pretend they are students. I would prefer no tv games or one college football game of the week on Saturday afternoon…even if that meant listening to games via radio when your team is away and then being excited going to the stadium for a home game. Let’s dial this back to 1965. Mostly regional recruits and regional rivalries and conferences…and the occasional USC v Alabama that we all watch. Players who need to be paid…go play in the nfl.

That would be the last straw for me.

You'd never see that today.
But fans don’t want to admit their fault in the way the game is played today. They want to see in-state players on the field but not if it means losing.
They will take the 5 star game changer from California over the 3-4 star local boy. Teams recruit mercenaries and then complain when they act like mercenaries.

We had a center from Oklahoma... who snapped to a QB from Oklahoma... who handed off to a tailback from Oklahoma... or threw to wide receivers from Oklahoma. Most of the team was from Oklahoma. I remember playing Tennessee in the Orange Bowl. Most of their guys were from Tennessee.

No longer give a shite about the players unless they've been with LSU for a few years. Still care about LSU football for now but fully expect it to stop eventually with how things are going.

50%+ haven't been "students" for 15-20 years now at least.
That's being quite generous I would guess.

NO. absolutely should not happen.,
although, if we are honest, most of these boys are taking basket weaving, and doing it over the computer. So, they are students only on paper. -- Not all, but many of them.

Tbh, I’m barely in it “as-is”.
Pretty much frick CFB as it is.

Surprised some dumbazz judge hasn't said requiring enrollment is a "constraint on trade."
I absolutely want them to be students...even if they're taking basket weaving.

I’m not going to lie and say I wouldn’t watch, but my direct financial support for Texas A&M athletics, which I have consistently given for almost 30 years, would end.

Recruiting used to be almost as fun as football season now I’m like ohh we signed a four star safety……..can’t wait to watch him play at ucla or tcu or fsu or wherever he ends playing after we develop him lol

Half the people here didn’t graduate from the universities they claim lol

Lots of down votes. Have an up on me. Its a really good question.
Because lets be real. No university, regardless of your credits, gives you an undergrad degree without two years of paid-for credits at their school. I should know.
Typically - you can get a Masters in one year ... IF YOU GOT THE UNDERGRAD FROM THEIR SYSTEM. If not ? Prepare to do at least three semesters. Probably four.
So for Johnny Transfer four teams in four years ? Its not a pursuit of a degree. Lets at least call it that. Lets call it semi-pro ball. Because that's what it is.

I never have thought of Football, Bask, Baseball players as students. Thought of them as athletes trying to go pro and win titles and stuff.

Wouldn’t think twice about it.
