From memory, last year he was hot pre-SEC... then slumped pretty hard for the first half of SEC Play, and turned it back on, right about now during the season...

Him hitting in the 9 hole is not because he is bad... it's sort of an additional leadoff hitter. He has done a great job getting on base. when the lineup turns over during an inning it allows greater chance of the 1 and 2 hole guys hitting with men on base.

I think Cowan may be the most dependable arm on the team… you know what kind of outing you will get from him everytime.
If you pair Anderson/cowan on Friday and Eyanson/Evans on Saturday. You will win the vast majority of your Friday and Saturday games .
I think if you start Cowan on Sunday, there will come several Friday/Saturday games that your starter exits the game with a lead and you end up losing. The bullpen outside of Cowan and Evan’s is just giving up too many free passes.

I believe Cowan is the better pitcher- right now.
I don't think it's close.
The fear is, if you start cowan, can you count on your bullpen to win the Friday night game.
I also, think Evans is a better pitcher than Shores right now, but its the same question. If you remove them from your bullpen, I am not sure you get more wins..

WOW... that ball looked to be headed down the middle of the right handed batter's box, and broke right back into the heart of the plate...
if he throws that at a right hander, he will be flinching expecting to be hit, and then get rung up...

Matt Canada failed, but he was widely thought to be a great hire at the time.
When that failed, O was quick to cut him loose and try something new. Then bring in Brady…
My point is he was focused on finding the right combination.
After 2019, recruiting went down, hiring was shitty… O got divorced, started chasing arse. He let off the gas entirely.
