I'll do the opposite and say I had a great time in Baton Rouge the last time we played there. A group invited us to their tailgate and fed us and gave us alcohol for 5 years... and then took us on a tour and we got to see Mike.

JAMEA had a really bad experience as a visiting fan at Tuscaloosa so I’m going to go with BAMA

I should add that we also watched the UK game in Fayetteville when J-Lo was our QB. The stadium had just been renovated. We had a great time up there.

It's always funny to me when threads abotu mistreatment or awful experiences boil down to "and people were actually barking! OMG!!"
Buddy if someone barking and yelling "go dawgs" is the worst treatment you've received at an away game consider your life charmin soft and being lived on easy mode
This.
SC fans sometimes do a rooster crow coming and and going out of a stadium. Not as many as bark for UGA games, but it's a minor thing either way.
It's like getting worked up when Bama fans yell "roll tide" or Arkansas fans do the "Whoa pig suey" thing or Tennessee fans singing "Rocky Top" or Auburn fans screaming "War Eagle" or Gator fans chanting "Gator Bait while they act like idiots clapping their arms together".
It's just what happens at football games. If you don't want to see that sort of thing, travel to Vandy. They don't really do anything except rarely yell "Anchor Down".

It's a good thing so few Carolina fans make the trip to Athens anymore. Sounds like it was unpleasant having to hear the home crowd cheer

It’s always unpleasant to get beaten like a drum too. No wonder we don’t see many of the SC fans in Athens anymore

The only road games I've been to are Vols (a few times) and FSU (once). Never had any issues. Same with UGA fans in Jax and Bama fans in Atl.

I've been to every SEC stadium except for the new comers (Texas and Oklahoma). I have always been treated great(even at an archival LSU). The worst event was a whiskey bottle thrown towards our section and 1 row in front on my wife and I at Georgia. It came from the student section. An Ole Miss fan that deflected it from hitting his wife stood up and called the guy out! The Georgia fans behind us began chanting, point him out, point him out. Someone did and security removed him.

A couple Lil Carolina kids sitting in the UNC section at WB were mouthing off but an older Cocks fan told them to shut up.
At ECU, some guy named Shane almost tried to fight me.

A&M fans are too damn nice. Need to get more of an attitude and quit trying to be liked.

Something about a grown arse man cosplaying as a member of Hells Angels, wearing a tattered Stafford jersey, and sporting a Monster Logo tattoo barking at your family just isn't quite the same as the other schools' little traditions you mentioned.

Doesn’t sound like a UGA fan to me. Sounds more like a UT or AU fan. Georgia fans are mainly people formerly called yuppies and UGA students who attended N Atlanta private schools. All have teeth - unlike Vol fans - and considerable finances as it’s very expensive to attend Georgia games. UT and AU fans mostly look like people who live in a homeless camp under a bridge

Do they live in Dunwoody and drive Volvos? [/Grizzard]

I say this as a proud UGA alum and supporter of all UGA sports teams, but you’re describing what Athens is like on an average weekday during the semester when it’s just students and professors on campus. On gameday, a sizeable chunk of people on campus never attended a class at UGA a day in their life and do not fit this supposed stereotype at all.
And that’s fine! I never really understood alumni who look down on “sidewalk fans.” College football is awesome and the University of Georgia is awesome and everyone should be able to come and hang out and have a good time and cheer on the Dawgs. The overwhelming majority of fans who didn’t go to UGA are just as level-headed and cool as alumni, and often more passionate and knowledgeable about the team and football in general.
But don’t act like we don’t have as much of a lunatic fringe attached to our fanbase as Alabama, OSU, LSU, Tennessee, or any other major program in the country. We do have the types that breakawayzou is describing.

The worst was Starkville. Those cowbells are just awful to hear all game long. Even during time outs and commercial breaks they wouldn't stop. The best was LSU. Super friendly. Fed us great food and was offering us shots before we got out of the car. We had multiple LSU tailgates waving us in to party.

As a WVU grad, I can say we definitely used to have some dickbag fans. Since we've joined the Big 12, things have really turned around and our fans welcome visitors with open arms. Big 12 fans by and large love their trips to Morgantown.
Big East fans were no saints either. 'Cuse, Pitt, Louisville, USF, VT.. used to be awful. Maryland too. Some of that is to be expected given rivalries but they were generally terrible.
Worst experience in the Big 12 is a toss up between OU and Kansas. Kansas fans seem to just be miserable people in general. Had a few jerks in Austin too but that was after WVU's 42-41 win there. Best was Iowa State. They were great..offered food and beer. Left us some beers after the game too.

I'm very familiar with Starkville as I have family there and have visited at least a dozen times. They're all in for Miss State.
It's just that games there in that stadium are no fun, and this coming from an LSU fan! I liked the game better back in the ol' days when we played in Jackson
