You act like everyone in Athens gets nose to nose and barks in your face. There might be the occasional idiot who does that but that's not the norm.

I think you underestimate how often it happens, and how aggressive it is.

Obviously if a fight starts, or something happens the visitor is outnumbered, so you just mostly have to stand there and take it. Most those clowns never went to the school so its even weirder to defend people barking and cussing you out.

Lol…y’all ain’t seen nothing yet. While individual games or instances stick out in your minds, you won’t consistently see anything in the south or SEC as bad as UT Austin

Our experience was the exact opposite. I've been to every SEC venue except KY and MSU and been to almost every Alabama non-conference away game.

Was there for the Bama game (stayed Thursday - Sunday) Austin was a damn good time and their fans were the nicest I've ever encountered. Not one bad word from students or adults our whole trip. We went to a ton of bars, student and older bars and nothing. Sat in the UT section down by the corner endzone and nothing but good conversation about football, bbq and conservative politics. It was awesome

I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Heard lots of horror stories about Austin but none of them were true atleast what we saw

Worst was Georgia back in 2003. First trip to Athens as a student and was really looking forward to it. We sucked bad and UGA was pretty good. Had shite thrown on us and fans were out to fight at all the bars. Even adults at the tailgates were rude. Really strange as I thought they'd be more welcoming.

Memphis Tigers at the Liberty is the worst for an Ole Miss fan

Second for me is against Arkansas in Little Rock

These are the ones that are consistently bad across multiple season over multiple decades

Don't bother. Dullest town and worst fan experience, by far, in the SEC.

I've said this a million times, but if you can't have or find fun in an SEC town, then you're the problem.

It's hilarious how defensive UGA fans get when someone highlights the fact that grown men barking in your face aggressively isn't something to be overly thrilled about.

If a grown man barked in your face and you took it, then that says more about you than it does about that moron.

I agree with West Virginia! But, it really was the young people. Before the game, we were invited into the Blue Lot to tailgate with some WVU fans we met on Rivals. That was fun. But, they made the LSU fans walk through the student section to get to our gate. Those students were the worst I have ever experienced. In the SEC, it would have to be Florida.

Consider yourself fortunate you never had to go watch your team play Bama at Legion Field. Walking to and from the car was the biggest adventure.

Yeah, but it was that way to all fans, not just visitors.

My worst experience would have to be Moss Point High School in Pascagoula MS, not a great time when you hear gunshots the whole game (nice view of the river though)

I have been to all multiple times, it comes down to individual experiences.

1) Don't lose to Miss State, ever in Starkville. They don't know how to act like they have been there before. Cowbells in your face, drunk rednecks.

2) Some LSU games, depends on the game and its importance. Sometimes it's a great time other times, not so great. Most times a lot of fun. Their student body can be pretty rough to visitors.

3) Georgia fans when they are winning, last cocktail party reminded me why I hate them.

4) Tennessee in the 90's, rivalry was at its peak. Lots of hate from both sides.

The SEC, it just means more!

Oh, and FSU and Miami suck for Gator fans.

Finebaum claims that Bama is being misrepresented by the two tshirt guys
The majority of the fanbase is classy
Also, ignore the guy that poisoned the trees

worst for me was UGa Stallings first year when we blew it late. It's like they wanted to fight.

Never had any other bad times ever and I've been to Aub, LSU, Tenn, MSU, Ark and most of those a good bit.

Ark was on our several trips have been the nicest, LSU close behind.

People that come to sporting events in Tuscaloosa seem to generally leave saying they had a good time and were treated well

The only bad experience I had was Starkville in 2007. And I'm sure it was just a one off. No issues in Knoxville, Auburn, Athens, Baton Rouge, Oxford, Columbia SC, Gainesville or Fayetteville. All were either just kind of tame or great trips with lots of fun interaction (Baton Rouge, Fayetteville).

Yeah because getting in a fight at a College Football game is at the top of my priority list.

I love how you go from

Directly to

The problems come when SCar fans or Auburn fans come to Athens, talk a whole lot of shite, and then get all pissy when there is retaliation.

"don't assume things about the whole fanbase, bro" went away pretty quick there

The only place I won't go in the SEC is Baton Rouge. What you experience there is seen nowhere else. Only place that feels "unsafe".

I'm not gonna argue that Red Stick is safe, but I've never felt particularly unsafe there. But I'm also in Birmingham often and don't feel unsafe there so

Yes the people bringing it up are the problem, not the fact that the same school and the same group of people get mentioned over and over again by multiple different posters and fanbases

I was at that game. Don’t remember that happening. Not saying it didn’t happen but I damn sure don’t remember it.
