Mo Claiborne won the Jim Thorpe award blew the whole damn test off and scored a 4....a damn fine football player, just didn't give a shite about that test.

I would not draft a Q B in the first round with a low score unless they are Brett Farve or Dan Marino.
How would you be able to determine they would end up being what they came to be at the time they were drafted?
That was tongue in cheek...
What was your wunderlick score? :)

I think that was a tad bit of sarcasm and/or irony used to portray there are occasional exceptions to the rule, but the safest bet as a franchise is to follow the trend. I could be wrong though.

I wonder what scores Nick Saban and Ed Orgeron would get on it

However, all else being equal I'd prefer a quarter back with a higher score than a lower score.
How about a head coach?
Tee Martin scored an 11.
I have heard Vol fans cite that, as well as a perception that he's not so great behind a microphone, as reason why he isn't a head coach yet. Not his low Wonderlic score...but the reason behind his low Wonderlic score.

Don’t know...
But there is a reason they give the test.
Out of a long list of low scores...Terry Bradshaw is the only SUPERBOWL winning QB.
Wunderlick scores aside, I still like Josh Rosen as the #1 QB

Ok...
This is my only point.
A franchise QB is the most important position on an NFL football team today.
That’s why they call the position a franchise QB.
You can get away with superior physical abilities at the QB position in college football.
That doesn’t work in the NFL.

You know it Coach.
“Lesser intelligent” players at any position in the NFL today will lose games for you.

uhhhhh... not a very good NFL player. and we are talking about QBs here. Honestly when it comes down to it I want the EXACT opposite skill set when it comes to CB and QB.
I don't need my CB to be smart. I need to be one of the most athletic people in the world and him to react to things WITHOUT thinking. Honestly the less going on up there the better

Winston does not come across as being that sharp,at all

Several great NFL QBs had terrible scores. Dan Marino comes to mind. He may have been lower than Jackson.

You’re being way to kind. As a Saints fan I’m happy he is the “franchise QB” for the Bucs.

Yes....it’s just one of many perameters that teams use to decide on a draft choice.
I will say this, I would not draft a Q B in the first round with a low score unless they are Brett Farve or Dan Marino.
Is that fair? :)
Fair enough for me. The NFL people aren't stupid. If the Wonderlic tests Warren completely useless, they wouldn't be using them as factors in multimillion dollar draft decisions. But I do think fans make a much bigger deal out of them than coaches and management.
Edit: er, were, not Warren. Stupid autocorrect

Some people are athletically, spatially, and reactionarily gifted enough to succeed despite their lack of intelligence, but the tests certainly do matter.
Claiborne has a learning disability and reportedly blew off the test to score a four. He's likely smarter than that or he couldn't play his position. Claiborne had "the lowest score made public in the seven years since safety Junior Rosegreen recorded a 2".
Junior Rosegreen is a prime example. He scored a 2 and was legitimately so unintelligent that he couldn't learn a defensive playbook to make even an NFL practice roster.
The Wonderlic is an important indicator for several positions, particularly quarterback and OL, otherwise the NFL wouldn't administer them. It's much less important for, say, RB, especially one who doesn't play in passing situations.
Anyone who says they don't matter at all is likely someone who would score in the Rosegreen range.

Who cares, even some of the top quarterbacks have done bad and the worst NFL quartbacks have done good. It's a pointless test
Are you retarded? Nobody said it’s the end all be all. Of course there will be outliers. The question was, does it matter. Of course it does, even if it’s just a small piece of the much larger puzzle.

Surprised that Eli beat out Peyton again.
Course, Miss over Tennersee?
All day, baby!
