it goes against the intent of the rule. I don’t like they were able to do it.

Yet you called him the right coach.

There is no law or rule against it. But I would suggest to you that is probably not a good idea.

Makes sense to me. The issue with you is on the next page of this thread you are going to say something that will contradict this like you just did with the Indiana football team.

Do you think Nate Oats cares what LSU fans here think? Because you guys tie up a lot of bandwidth telling everyone.

So basically, LSU isn't breaking any rules, and even if they were, he says the NCAA can't really win those battles.

But LSU definitely shouldn't try their best to win because.... captdalton doesn't think it's a good idea?

in his defense, he's gotten this far, but judging by his posting, i think he's around 10-13.

Hopefully, you would look for the best route for you to deliver success as quickly as possible within the rules. So far, that is all he has done.
You seem to be the most invested in this matter and this a serious question because admittedly, I don't follow basketball like I do the other sports. Is there precedent already for an NCAA team to sign players that have been pro and then washed out? Wanted to come back to college because NIL will pay them to play?

This from someone who has created 50+ threads related to Lane Kiffin, since he was hired at LSU on 11/30/25.

Seems like college basketball has a lot of gray areas.

I think WW should do whatever he can to make the next year's team as good as possible. If its not against the rules or there's a precedent, frick anybody who cries about it.

How many pages of posts calling Cignetti the best coach in college football would you like me to pull up? He won a national championship for Indiana. A LOT of people call him the right coach.

You seem to be having trouble separating two distinct ideas.

Do I think he was the right coach for Indiana? Yes.

Do I think what he did to JMU is shitty? Also yes.

Do I think the rules should be changed to explicitly prevent it? Again also yes.

I have repeatedly stated college sports have been broken by NIL and especially the transfer portal. We just seem to disagree on how low is too low..

Personally I think Cignetti is an unlikeable a-hole. But he won a national championship at Indiana in his 2nd season as a P4 coach. In 7 seasons as a FBS coach he has won a national championship. I also think that Wade is an unlikeable a-hole. The difference is that in 12 seasons as a D-1 he has as many show causes as he does sweet 16 appearances.

In all of this I find it so peculiar that LSU fans are willing and eager to welcome him back. You guys are obviously willing to carry a lot of baggage for a guy who has made one sweet 16 and won one SEC championship.

I don't even know. I honestly do not expect guys like Luis are going to get cleared and it looks like Graves is probably going pro. We are going to miss out a few of these guys.

Eta: I am really only invested because I cannot stand hypocrisy and double standards. The way people stretch the truth and just act like it is accurate is crazy. I still remember all of the "Will Wade was caught on tape buying players" comments as if that is actually what happened.

Show me where those guys say that it is okay for Cignetti to do it and also wear Will Wade out for doing it. This whole conversation is a complete joke. You are all over the place.
