This is true, but the majority of their alumni base also comes from out of state. They aren't really the state representative university in the state of Mississippi.

They're more concerned with chandeliers and chicken tenders in the grove

I know this board is solely for trolling, but I was embarrassed on Saturday. That was the worst attended game I've ever seen when we were in a match up like that. There were plenty of hog fans there. Also considering our showing in Atlanta, something odd has happened with our fanbase.

Honestly makes me wonder about the long term economic effects of Covid on our state or if it was just a fluke because the Grove is back this year.

South Carolina are loyal fans and I respect them more than many. But the Ole Miss crowd was a big disappointment.

I assume that State has more fans than Ole Miss?

Attendance is down everywhere. Even if the tickets are sold, some are not going to the game.

Others are tailgating outside the stadium and not going in.

My prediction, more luxury seating, box seats, benches replaced by chair backs around the entire stadium. Thus reducing capacity and matching supply better with demand.

Also, in some cases (not many) ticket prices have gotten to expensive for family of say 4 once you add in parking passes, food, drink, gas prices etc. For a lot of the families that can strain the budget.

“I assume that State has more fans than Ole Miss?“

In the State of Mississippi among the general populace (who do not have a strong allegiance to either school) it is heavily tilted toward State.
That was not always the case, however. From the late 40’s to the early 70’s, Ole Miss dominated football in MS and virtually all of your neutral fans were Ole Miss (everyone loves a winner).
That started changing in the 70’s when Ole Miss did not promote Bob Tyler has HC when Johnny Vaught retired (Vaught wanted Tyler to succeed him as he had recognized his greatness). Later Tyler became the HC at State and the rivalry started evening out. In the recent decades, enrollment at Ole Miss has become dominated by out of state students.
Now Ole Miss still has a sizable fan base in MS but the numbers have titled toward State over the last 50 years.

Hi cockboi glad to see you back to being rustled by OM

can't even sell out a 55k seat coliseum.

64k but who's counting? Still a small stadium

When I tuned in I saw vast, enormous, gapping amounts of open sections.

You saw one or two sections that needed to be filled. Just like your moms. Visitor sections... just like your moms.

You've had sandstorm for a while and that wasn't a draw for perspective coaches.

Or Bama, or LSU, but I agree there aren't Ole Miss fans if you or your family didn't attend.

I had a situation Saturday morning and had to record the first part of the game, screwed up and accidentally recorded the skycast or whatever they call it airing on ESPNU.. basically no announcer and it's just the sky cam that follows behind the play.

First off that's a horrible way to watch the game, I can't believe they air that on live tv. If it actually showed the other camera angles I get it, but not that. It did give me the opportunity though to see many stadium shots from field level and everybody is right, Ole Miss fans did not show up.

It wasn't a single section but multiple areas where it was just blank. In areas where there was people, many open seats between them and to be clear the Hog fans were as loud as the Ole Miss fans if not louder.. at least that's how it came across on the broadcast.

What is weird is that you have 2 closely ranked teams playing, they have a "Heisman" QB on the field, playing for 2nd place in the West and if Alabama loses (uh oh) the West is wide open. Why is this game not important to Ole Miss?

Should Ole Miss stay in the SEC if their fans aren't going to support them even when they have so much going for them?

Attendance has been a problem for a while at Ole Miss. There is not one defining factor driving the attendance issues. There are numerous: fans getting priced out of games, general apathy, Oxford’s isolation from major cities, our fanbase’s tendency to stay in the Grove, etc.

The two sections on the east side at the top of the stadium which were noticeably empty are visitor seating. But there is really no excuse. Our stadium needs to be downsized IYAM.

The enormous, gapping amounts of open sections on TV were the band's seats. The only areas that were truly empty were the nosebleeds on the visitor side in the NEZ corner.

In the state of Mississippi, I would say yes. You've got a lot of sidewalk Bama fans in the eastern-central part of the state and a lot of LSU fans near the coast.

State is definitely more popular in the state of MS now.

eh no. Band section is easy to spot and nobody counts that. You had massive open spots.. just admit it, you don't show up to support your team. Keep this up and in a decade or so you will be the next Vanderbilt.

Multiple Rebal posters have told you that you’re wrong. It’s because you are.

Don’t take my word for it. Look at the official seating chart. The massive empty areas at the top of the stadium on the east side are visitor seating.

Hawgs didn’t sell our their ticket allotment. I don’t know how many more times you have to be told this.

Attendance was listed at 60,256, Ark only purchased 1500 of their allotted 5k tickets as well.

Our crowds suck, once the boomers die off it'll get better

Because their enrollment is in a free-fall and they over-built in their last expansion.
