Because I look forward to Saturdays from September-November. Those "big game Saturdays" are going away. The most consequential matchups will now be played by the 18th and 30th best teams.

I do not think they are as deserving as the #2 team.
The #4 team is usually perfectly deserving of playing for its conference championship and a major bowl, which both seemed to matter quite a lot before the playoff became everything anyone talked about.
Deserving of what? College football has always had a shitty way of naming a national champion, and anyone with a brain would agree. Having co-champions and naming a champion before the bowl games is assinine.
But you think someone or some group of people can decide among 130+ teams who should be deserving? I bet you are also the first person to criticize the selection committee too.

I disagree I think 7 and 3 teams are going to put on a good ball game to. Get in the playoffs so those 7-3 teams will play there asses off to get in I just think it is about perspectives

You didn't watch because you have given up on football for the season just like me.

I can't wait for the reaction of teams left out ranked 25, 26 or 27.

Dilution of the regular season.

Horrible mismatches.
MBAs are treating CFB like it’s March madness to maximize profits but it’s a fundamentally different sport and outside of degenerate gamblers the sport is worse off for it.
The difference between team 24 and team 2 in CFB is so wide it’s hard to quantify.
Injuries, given the opportunity to heal can change championships as well. Injuries can, and often do change the course of a championship season, by the 3rd regular season game. No one has ever said though, that they wanted a shorter season because of injury risk.
Yeah, you'll see blowouts, but you'll also see spoilers and upsets.
People are gonna love this.

I don't care about any of them. They are relics.

A great deal, if not the majority, of basketball fans nowadays days in this conference discount Kentucky basketball’s history because a lot of it pre-dated the expanded tournament. Their logic was the tournament only had 8 or 16 teams. No one cares or is interested in the sport before the modern 64+ team tournament. It’s not a bad thing…but it is a thing.
This is where college football is headed. Bama, Tenn, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU football fans…your team’s history just became a historical footnote. Less and less fans will care moving forward about your history before the expanded playoffs. All your championships will fade away in importance and be discounted as just not quite as legitimate. Winning a championship when you are truly the best team, just became a little bit more difficult. You’ll have to work that much harder to stay at the top. Not all of you will stand the test of time.
Not a bad thing…but it will be thing.

Becasue I think 24 is a good number and works with 135 teams. It is less than 10% and still attainable by any team who has a special season.

Can you provide any examples where the #5 ranked team in the BCS or 4-team playoff era had a great argument to be ranked #2?

Don’t worry though. Even with an expanded playoff, it'll still suck to lose the Iron Bowl.

It amazes me how many SEC fans are against the playoffs when the SEC was constantly overlooked from the early days of television to probably at least the 80's or 90's until the conference started getting some respect it had deserved for so long. The media never wanted to promote teams from the South and would rank them lower and not vote on their players for awards and such. The expanded playoff is about giving more teams a reward for a good season, and giving them a chance at glory. Regional biases are good for rivalries, but not structuring national policy.

What do Georgia fans know about being a supporter of a team who has no expectation of being in the final game, and only qualifies for bowl games, and then watch your mercenaries opt out so they can get ready for the NFL.

When Bama and LSU played in 2019, the winner of that game was probably going to win the national championship (assuming Tua stayed healthy) and the loser wasn't making the playoff
That no longer matters now because both teams make the playoff. There is nothing to play for anymore.
Being that your favorite team is A&M it makes sense that you wouldn't understand.

UF lost to FSU in November and then beat FSU for the natty in January back in 96-97. So this has already happened.
