Why not The Sip?

Very experienced team. Nearly won it last year. 6 or 7th year QB who can win the Heisman this year. Upgrade at HC. Will this be The Sip’s first ever natty?

Chambliss is legit. As long as he is playing you cannot count them out. The secondary can be iffy but the Dline is legit, and helps with those deficiencies on the back end. RB’s are talented especially with Lacy. Deuce is as good as anyone in the country at WR. It’s possible

My unpopular opinion I’ve been sitting on for awhile is that Golding will be viewed more favorably as a coach than Kiffin longterm. Best thing to happen to him was Lane leaving.

I agree Lacy is very talented.
What are the injuries that have had him leave the game?
Are they a few days rest and OK, or are the injuries lingering things that may require missing a few games?

I want to see Pete for a whole season before being sure, but the early returns look real good. Last December-January put him through a test that most coaches never face and he was magnificent. He put together outstanding portal and recruiting classes while retaining existing roster, and keeping players focused through the playoffs. Show me another head coach who’s ever had to juggle all of that; you can’t.
The players love and respect him. He sets a good example. Seems to be a good motivator. Keeps the focus where it needs to be. Knows the game very well. I’m not sure about his choice of DC, but he has earned a lot of leeway from fans and admin for the way he has handled a very difficult transition. The Ole Miss admin will give him the time and resources he needs. The alums and donors already love the guy.
He also shares Kirby’s philosophy about building a team through hard-nosed recruiting, then developing and retaining players instead of just buying a team of free agents every year in the portal.
He also loves being in Oxford. Unlike Kiffin, he’s not spending his time on the lookout for his next gig.
Could we end up with some 9-3 or even 8-4 seasons? Sure. It’s a tough conference. But I think we’ll field teams consistently at the 10-2 level or better, with chances to be in the CFP every year. Time will tell.

The B1G is very pedestrian this year so it is possible that Ole Miss could get that elusive Natty.

Other than having a damned tough schedule and a "first" year coach Ole Miss is probably as good as anyone in the nation. Schedule is tough though. Certainly a play off team unless the wheels come off.
