Why does LSU want to be where it's not wanted?

If this is heading for a vote, it signals alignment among the Universities. Meaning, they don't want LSU in the league. Why can't the tigers accept their fate?

The SEC has known about LSU's cheating for 20 years but has looked the other way but they have finally went too far with the publicly telling the SEC "you can't tell us what to do" and what LSU has actually been up to will shock us all.

In the annals of actual SEC recruiting violations, how is this alleged violation the one that needs to run to an immediate vote?
