Today’s game was a tight one.

He scored 40 and killed Tennessee vs what they did. You have to pick your poison and I am playing zone.

Edey is not beating me. They will not drive in and lay it up either. I think they will try and force it in enough to where I can make a game of it.

You have to rake the ball right at Edney and get him in foul trouble. If you try and set outside and shoot threes its not gonna work.

He averages being called for less than 2 fouls per game. You aren’t going to foul him out.

For whatever reason, he’s immune to the whistle.

Purdue is a team that you have to non-stop pressure their guards. Full court press, half court traps, etc. Their guards shoot the ball extremely well, but they aren't the greatest ball handlers. Accept Edey will get his and try and disrupt them in other ways.

I caught most of the last 2 Purdue games and from what I saw he is very disciplined. When he's out of position for rebounding or defending he does not try to force the issue.

The officials are going to protect Neckbolts. He does what he wants, you can't.

No need in trying to change that. it's what they are going to do. So you play zone, limit him, stop them going to the hole. and make them shoot from outside. They'll make some, but their bread and butter is Edey.

Connecticut has won 10 straight NCAA tournament games by double digits. They are a machine right now and I don’t see the next game against Alabama being any different. They are blowing out some damn good teams.

i see a lot of posts about refs not calling fouls on edey and edey getting the calls. the guy is fundamentally sound. very sound. the announcers talked about is improvement. if he gets the ball inside when he's got position you can't stop him. on defense he was careful to keep his body off of the offensive player.

on the other hand, strong for NC state, while talented at offense, got away with a lot of pushoffs. i thought tennessee/purdue was called clean. IMO tennessee didn't have enough patience in the second half. they forced Knecht instead of working to get him free or letting him pass the ball off. they needed another scorer. anyway, it will be interesting to see a NC state matchup vs purdue and the contrast at center. Edey will definitely get the calls if strong pushes off while advancing to the basket. Edey is taller and more athletic, and it will be interesting to see how they matchup..

I agree that the Vols forced Knecht and needed another scorer. Certainly not the first time that's been the case this year. While not necessarily sharp shooters, would have loved for them to run some plays to get JJ and Gainey more looks. JJ hit several 3s in the tournament and wish he shot more.

Edey may be fundamentally sound, but it really is quite shocking to me the number of elbows and shoves he gets away with, especially when rebounding. The disparity between what he gets away with and what they call in his favor is amazing to me considering he's always the biggest, strongest player on the court. Not to mention his ability to set up camp in the lane with impunity.

In spite of what I wrote in my last paragraph, I'm not blaming the refs for the Vols loss. That's how they've called it for Edey all year. ZZ simply had a bad night, and our half court offense has been completely one dimensional all year. We knew our bigs weren't gonna do shite on offense, we needed another plan other than hope DK can score 50.

Pretty sure they call a foul if you look at him

Purdue’s Zach Edey played a crucial role in leading his team to a close 92-86 victory over Alabama in Toronto.

Edey’s ability to move recklessly and foul without consequence, like literally tearing Mohamed Wague’s jersey before a whistle was blown, made it difficult for Alabama to play against him.

NC State has their own big guy. It should be fascinating to watch.

Dude is fat... but he is sure quick. However, he is giving up seven inches to the Edster.

I bet he gets around him plenty... but he will have to use his body to keep from getting blocked when he goes up to shoot.

On defense maybe he can push him out enough to get him out of his comfort zone. But he is not tall enough to handle him close to the bucket.

I don' think their shooters can make up the difference if you limit Edey. They are role players.

Zone the bastard. Go full metal Old School Jim Boeheim on Purdue, and make them shoot the ball to beat you.

You can count to a pretty high number with him in the lane too..a lot of times.

I complained about that when we played them, it seemed he stayed in the lane too long on the offensive end. That’s something you don’t see called much anymore.
I have a feeling Nate may be chirping in the refs ears quite a bit when the guy lives in the lane.

hope burns can push him out at least a couple feet farther from the basket, then try to front him when they try to pass into him with one the guards at the top of the key

you cant try and block him he'll get every call, so just try and push him out an burns is big enough to where he might be able to do that, vols just dont have the personnel to do that

dj cant really get up the floor that quick either so playing well in transition without him from state's guards will be key. half court offense will be fun to watch. glad im not a ref having to figure out how to call these too
