based on leavitt's play thus far, it seems a little strange. Leavitt is missing a lot of opportunites downfield No coach is perfect in assessing talent, and you have to remember that Chambliss wouldn't have gotten his chance if Austin Simmons doesn't get hurt. Austin Simmons is not impressive from what I've seen.

I'm not saying it's time to dump Leavitt, I just wish we would get a look at our second stringer for a few series. Not going to happen, I get that.

so i sure hope we see some improvement from our oline and QB.

LSU football is still a lot more fun to watch. I'm just tamping down my expectations for this year.

you may be right, johnny U, but some guys have a better knack for getting the ball out. guys shorter than Clark. BUT, i just don't expect Kiff to abandon Leavitt. So I doubt we see Clark unless Leavitt gets hurt.

it appears to me that Leavitt doesn't have good downfield vision. he's got talent, but this one deficiency is a killer.

If baker is a good DC, and you cut him some slack, it has to be that we don't have the depth we need to keep being aggressive all game. There might be truth to that, but still, as the last poster noted, we went super soft before the half and at the end of the game and allowed chambliss to easily move down the field and score.

i noticed that when Ole Miss got to our 30 our defense went super soft. you just can't do that, we should've have been sending 5.

i would rather lose with pressure than just give it to the other team.

nope. not me. i understood when Nick got here that he wanted to coach pro ball. i didn't like it, but i knew it was going to happen.

and i wasn't happy that he went to work for alabama. again, it was the best opportunity for him at the time.

I don't love Saban like i would have, but i respect, like him, and appreciate like hell what he did for our program.

no way you can conclude anything but that Kiff was using the game for practice. he is way too smart to line up with the whole team in the box and keep running the same play over and over again. When it didn't work. IMHO he was finding out what his team could do and get some film on it so he could work on it in practice. I kept wondering why we didn't try to run out of a spread offense but we never did. well, it shows what we need to work on, and I figure the man knows we need to be able to run for short yardage out of that formation if we want to win some big games later.

He's a genius.

btw i want to echo what a lot of posters said about the feel of the game. I never was in doubt or fearful of losing the game. Even halfway through the 3rd quarter.

This young man seems to be made of high character. I think he will stick it out with Moo with the money they can pay.

As an LSU fan, would I love to have him? You betcha! But I'm like a lot of posters here who don't like the mercenary quality that has developed in college football under the current rules system. We can all understand the transfers for playing time and better opportunity to play for a championship. I don't like it when it is all about money, and I think schools are smart for avoiding those guys.

it can be, but i get it. it's early, you need the practice, and you may want your subs (?) if they're in, to get a real practice in rather than just run the clock out. you have to do what's best for your team. it can be chicken sh*t, depending on the circumstances.
