Spot on bud. AU just won't lay down and take staying in their place. Some what like Clemson. Only Clemson doesn't have the extra gear AU has since they don't have the Bama thing hanging over their heads. They do whatever they must to survive and thrive. And they are actually hot boxed between Bama and Georgia now so there's that too. The PTB's @ NCAA and SEC give them a little wider swath to do what they have to do to compete since they do have a bigger cross to bear. They are judged on a curve and some fans don't understand that. It is an intergral part of the sport of CFB and neither body wants to lose that. That cross in fact is a huge part of the landscape since they have a ton of fans NATIONALLY pulling for them against the Crimson juggernaut. And many times they are the last and best chance to beat Bama. And the NCAA and SEC love that and the spectacle of the IRON bowl. That game is attended by (if they can get tickets) a bunch of folks who pull for AU against Alabama who are from all parts of the country. My neighbor from Va attended AU and barely knew where the school was because his dad took him to the Lawyer Tillman game. His dad was no AU fan but they went to see AU beat UA and it happened. Without Bama AU would have never had a reason and therefore the will they developed to do what they do.

Not really. Just saying that your recruits don't know the difference in what a state school is and is not...and they don't care.
I absolutely think they do and that it makes a difference.

They are the most insecure fan base in the SEC. So everyone tends to pile on them constantly

Because they are the dirtiest program in the SEC. Auburn is like one of those archae bacteria living in a boiling acidic ocean vent: they have evolved extremely unique adaptations in order to survive where no one else can.

This is just from personal experience, but I've had terrible encounters with Auburn alums and fans- way more than any other fanbase. Maybe I've just met some bad ones?

I lived in Mobile for a few years so have friends that went to Bama and AU. I don't have this insane hatred of Bama like other LSU alums and fans. In fact, they're my second favorite team.

Auburn, on the other hand, seems very entitled for some reason. Most of the Auburn fans I met seem to look down on people who have no affiliation with the university. And when they won in 2010 everyone dusted off their Auburn gear for the first time since 2004. It hadn't seen the light of day since then.

Full disclosure though - Auburn is behind TAMU and Florida as my most hated SEC team.

That was a bad injury.

Gotta call Bravo Sierra on this. He was definitely NOT hurting right before he fell to the ground. In my experience, a "bad" injury normally includes quite a bit of pain that signals you need to lie on the ground. Instead, he got a signal from the sideline that he needed to lie on the ground.

So you actually hate a team over one play that happened 20 years ago?

Thats sad

One play? Auburn consistently chop blocks year after year.

Wasn't Auburn called for a chop block on their first offensive play THIS year?

Auburn was in the midst of its 6 game winning streak against Bama until 2008, so there was plenty of Auburn gear everywhere.

Since you are clueless about this I am calling bullshite on the rest of your fairytale post

Have you met the LSU fanbase? Or Bama fans that need constant stroking?

Same for me.

After Katrina rendered my house unlivable, I moved in with my in laws for a while. I had almost nothing except the clothes on my back and my vehicle. After a couple weeks, I needed a break from "real life". My wife and I drove up to the Auburn/State game. I was kind of shell shocked at this point. Just stared off into space a lot. I couldn't care less about who won, I wasnt expecting to - we sucked then. But I'm standing there during the national anthem, staring off into space, and I forgot to take my hat off. Instead of just politely reminding me, some douchebag proceeded to cuss me out over not taking off my hat. Several others joined in to the point that my wife was in tears. (This is the last football game she ever attended, btw). I always respect the anthem and remove my hat btw - just too much on my mind that day and forgot (funny how far society has moved on that issue in 13 short years, huh?).

Auburn proceeded to murder us, something to nothing. Those fans that treated us so well during the anthem did not fail to point it out to us throughout the game, and dog cussed us one last time as we left in the 4th quarter.

Entering that day, I had no feelings towards Auburn. After that day, I have forever hated them with a passion, and always will. I have yet to meet a fan that has given me a reason to reconsider.

It's documented that Miss St. offered Cam Newton's father $250,000 if Cam played football for them. Newton chose Auburn instead. That tells you all you need to know about Auburn integrity. I'm sure that if you looked closely enough into the Auburn basketball program, you would find equally odorous behavior.

They wear orange.

And, if I have to hear about that god damn "auburn family" again, I'm gonna fricking lose it. I swear it is the go to argument for auburn fans I grew up around. "Oh, you're just a fan of the school, we are a family blah blah blah."

I don't even see how this is even relevant. Who really cares about this?
