In 1983 and 2004 other polls recognized AU as NC. In 1983 AU played the toughest schedule in the country was ranked #3 going into the Bowl Game. When #1 and 2 lost they were jumped by #5 Miami. AU should claim that title.
In 2004 AU was the only major P5 team to go undefeated. USC was striped of the title. They should claim that title.
Jay Jacobs made the decision not to claim those titles. The new AD may change his mind in the near future.

Okay. I can go back in history and show you where Georgia was named National Champions in a poll 6 or 7 times. Doesn't make us national Champions.

Nope. there was a recognized National Championship game. Auburn was not invited to play in it.

It would be a mistake. It would only cheapen the titles, and nobody outside of Auburn would recognize them.

I’ve always hated Auburn, but never really had a reason (they oscillate between pretty good
