I think the move towards spread Os have made guys who would have traditionally been an elite RB move to different positions. KJ was Auburn's last one RB.

LSU last year but CEH was a surprising success

Other than Brossette, LSU’s string of RBs was as good as any other schools. CEH, Guice, Fournette, Jeremy Hill, etc were all elite.

A recruit imagines an offense from when they were 5 years old?

Actually Bama and LSU have put more in the NFL than Georgia in the last decade. Since 2010

Alabama - 10 RBs drafted; 3 in 1st round
LSU - 10 RBs drafted; 2 in 1st round
Georgia - 6 RBs drafted; 2 in 1st round Auburn - 6 RBs drafted; 0 in 1st round
Since 2000
Alabama - 15 drafted; 4 in 1st
LSU - 16 drafted; 3 in 1st
Georgia - 12 drafted; 3 in 1st
Auburn - 11 drafted; 2 in 1st
All time (since start of draft)
Bama - 39 (7 in 1st)
UGA - 35 (8 in 1st)
LSU - 32 (7 in 1st)
AU - 39 (6 in 1st)

Lingard, Pierce, and Davis is a very good backfield.

They can't all be Texas Bowl champs and NFL malcontents like Fournette.

Well Mac and Champ sucked at recruiting backs. Mullen has continued that.

Just odd. We are more known for passing offense I guess. We produce a ton of WRs and put plenty of QBs in the NFL. Just not Rbs. It's odd.

Pierce and Lingard are highly rated. We shall see how they do.

Meyer's offense didn't feature your prototypical RB. Follow that up with Bama and FSU recruiting well at the position inside Florida, and now UF has a lot of ground to make up.

Seriously who’s the last great back at Florida? Probably have to go all the way back to Fred Taylor and obviously Emmitt before him.

But since then, Tebow has been the best runner. At HB I guess you’d say Gillislee... and that’s a low bar.

Seriously, that exact question was posed to Coach Bryant at a late night Skywriter's Tour "gathering" at Indian Hills C.C. in Tuscaloosa back in the 60s. His reply was, "you can't run a football with a hard dick." ...go figure.

Not entirely accurate, Rainey and Demps rushed for 1,250 yards and 11 TDs in 2008, 1,320 yards and 12 TDs on 2009

That's my point. Those guys aren't really HB's. The production was fine, but if you are a 5 star 225 pound HB recruit looking to go to the NFL, you aren't thinking "I could be the next Chris Rainey." You want to be Zeke Elliott or Derrick Henry. You aren't looking to split your share of carries with the QB and some jitterbug WR who runs trick plays and gets all the attention.

Coaches and parents who very well remember that offense have a lot of say in a recruit's decision. And when you haven't had a big name HB come out of UF since the last time UF was considered a national power, then yea, it factors in, especially with the OC from that offense being the HC.

Imagine if Alabama went downhill after the 2009 title and never won anything since. You think Bryce Young would come to Alabama to be the next Greg McElroy or Jay Barker? No, he want's to be the next Tua.

I think it is a fair question. Why did Clemson get CJ Spiller and Jamie Harper out of Urban Meyer's back yard? Why did Trent Richardson and Derrick Henry choose Bama? Dalvin Cook to FSU, Sony Michel to Georgia, the list goes on and on. These are all good questions and I would like some answers.

Scarlett "started" in 2018 (played the first drive) and the workload was divided pretty equally between him and Perine.

I took your post to mean Auburn rejected our 2018, 2019, and 2020 starter, which would've been Scarlett, Perine, and Pierce, and I did know that Perine was a fairly unheralded recruit from Alabama and that Pierce's choice came down between UF and Auburn. Was wondering if there was any connection between Scarlett and Auburn.

But since you're just talking about Perine, and since Perine had a terrific career and just got drafted 4th round, I don't think he exactly reflects poorly on UF just because he wasn't a star recruit.
