Seriously who’s the last great back at Florida? Probably have to go all the way back to Fred Taylor and obviously Emmitt before him.

But since then, Tebow has been the best runner. At HB I guess you’d say Gillislee... and that’s a low bar.

Auburn’s been having trouble recently. Tank’s a 4/5 star. We’re getting good backs but not All-American level.

Earnest Graham/Ciatric Fason

Percy Harvin played RB a lot in 2007/2008

Career rushing stats:

194 Rushes, 1852 Yards (9.5 YPC - Insane), 19 TDs

Urban Meyer transformed that offense into one that didn't really feature a HB. It was Tebow up the middle or Harvin on the edge. And although Meyer is long gone, that is still the image most 5 star HB recruits have of UF. And now the OC of that system is back as HC. Derrick Henry would have normally played for Florida coming from the Jacksonville area but instead he goes to Alabama because he knows they feature the HB.

Steve spurrier might have something to do with it.

Good point about the scheme. UF is my pick in the east this year but RB is the one position holding them back IMO

Always thought Scarlett was going to break out - he deflated us in 2018.

As for Auburn y’all should use Shivers more. Poor man’s CEH.

It’s not like they’re terrible though.

Not entirely accurate, Rainey and Demps rushed for 1,250 yards and 11 TDs in 2008, 1,320 yards and 12 TDs on 2009

Deshawn Wynn led in rushing in 2005 and 2006, but he wasn't very good. Florida was definitely the Tebow/Harvin show in 2007 though

How many teams actually have elite RBs these days

Ohio State
Clemson
Bama
LSU last year but CEH was a surprising success

Just too much of a split system mind set out there to really have great backs

UFs were fine last year
Like perine especially

I would say it’s more of a question how Florida runs the offense. They have so many great weapons on the outside and usually at least a decent QB. They’ve had great running backs over the years, but it’s just not a run heavy offense since Steve took the helm.

Having trouble is really not that accurate. A lull of having to rely on average running backs since Kerryon Johnson left boo hoo

We're stacked right now.

We actually turned down Florida's starting running back of the last three seasons

That's a bad situation for Florida and I concur with the OP

LSU
UGA
tOSU
Bama
Auburn
Clemson
Wisconsin

That’s 3/4 of the best SEC teams. You could argue (I would) that it’s what kept UGA just a hair above UF last year and threatens to do it again.

Some spare that couldn't beat out Feleipe Franks for the job.

UGA has had better RBs over the past 10 years than all but maybe Bama

Maybe; there is a stark difference between what UGA has done to Florida rushing versus the other way around. Still, I think it comes down to the fact that Mullen hasn’t been able to figure out how to beat Smart’s defense.
