As a LSU fan I would. I think our running game will be much improved but it will in no way be near the top of the SEC

I think we will be balanced but we just dont have that traditional LSU big time back.
Caden Durham made some big plays when he was finally used in 2024.
Trying to be objective here, I think LSU has a lot more talent on offense than what was shown under Kelly's time, especially with Sloan as the OC. I'd politely say Sloan was in over his head at this level. I hope to see significant improvement this season on that side of things. Wouldn't shock me to see us average close to 200 yds a game rushing.

We don't need Simmons to run. If the passing game can develop enough of a down field threat to prevent defenses from stacking the box, then Hardy and Roberts may have a heck of a year.
If Hardy is good to go. If . . .

Georgia or Ole Miss
Florida obviously one of the best running backs in the SEC...but it will take a ton more to have the best backfield in the SEC, not just Baugh.

Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown
Hollywood Smothers will be the first player in history to have played for OU and then Texas... Interestingly, there have been about six or seven Texas players who have later played for OU (depending on if you count Joe Don Looney)...
And Raleek Brown was a long time OU commit who decommitted when Lincoln Riley left OU...
It will be interesting this year because OU fans are going to be pretty familiar with the Texas running back duo.

If Hardy is close to 100% & Roberts performs, Mizzou will be right there.

If Hardy is healthy, it's gotta be Mizzou. We return the SEC's #1 rusher in Hardy (1,649 yards) and the #10 rusher in Roberts (753 yards). And that was in an offense with a QB who couldn't throw the ball downfield, so everyone packed the box against us.

Think about if Kewan Lacy had stayed at Mizzou. Would be an all time 1-2 punch with him and Hardy.

This. OU's backfield will be above average, perhaps even really good, especially if the OLine is finally consistent this year. But the OU offense does not feature a running back. Several backs get snaps and they use the pass to open up the run. They will never be considered in a top backfield rating until this changes. It's also why we always get the top all purpose backs and not the top rated bell cow type backs.

The present buzz is that he will be good to start the season, so there is that.

I think the tpp 3 teams in ypc and Rushing YPG will be Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas..
