Who do you think would've won in 2003 between LSU and USC?

Would've been a great game. Hard to say really. LSU had the more talented D and USC the more talented O. At that time, defense usually won in such matchups.

LSU completely shut down the Heisman trophy winner. What makes anyone thing it would have happened differently vs SC?

Yeah but lsu didn’t light it up either. USC shuts down lsu probably cruises 35-17 or something like that

Because they were going against the nation's #1 total defense in OU, which fell to #2 behind LSU by game's end.

Well, I would argue that during that period is when White/OU/Stoops generally wilted in big games while Leinart/Carroll/USC rose to the occasion for the most part. See the very next year for example when they played each other

because everyone likes to hate on LSU. Probably also plenty of people here who were too young to even watch games back then. So they are probably thinking USC from 04 and 05. The 03 USC team was nowhere near as good as the 04 team.
LSU wins that game, no doubt in my mind. That USC team played a very easy schedule that year.

We'll never know. Do know that Saban and that defensive staff would have had a good plan with a few weeks time to prep for USC. That defense was salty.

USC beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl 28-14. They had several plays where receivers were getting behind the defense. I don’t think they would have done that regularly against LSU. Their last touchdown was a reverse pitch with a throw to QB Leinert for a touchdown. Georgia tried a similar play in the SEC championship game but LSU was all over it.
USC had a great team but for those that think they were superior to LSU, I don’t think so. Had they played for the championship, I think it would have been a great game, but I think LSU wins in the Superdome.
Also, kudos to that Oklahoma team. LSU gained momentum in the second half and had chances to pull away, but the Sooners battled like champions and kept the game competitive. After not winning a NC for 45 years, beating a team with the pedigree of Oklahoma made it that much more special
