What do you think is the highest paying Plant for Plant Operators in Louisiana
Posted by FlyingTigerBo on 7/3/26 at 8:18 pm
Saw an Ad on Facebook for Shell Norco and they said they had the highest entry pay for Process Operators in the State.
Seems like bullshite.
I would of thought the LNGs and Union plants would've paid more.

Shell for electrical maintenance, controls, and process automation.
Shell was more sought after than Exxon?

Was reading that Goldman Sachs has been hiring 2-3 LSU graduates the past couple years. It made me think of this question.
Every year a top company would be hiring only a few spots for new grads, whether it be from a job fair or professor in a department that was connected or something else.
For engineering it would be Exxon, Accounting would probably be Deloitte, etc.
What was the job everyone was chasing after in your declared major?

Been reading how private equity is going after local, small businesses. Think like HVAC, plumbing, pest control, laundromats, medical practices, car washes, Vet Clinics, Dentals, etc.
Trying to avoid anything to do with Private Equity. Seems the the business gets shitter anytime they get involved with it.
Also, for Lake Charles too. I just found out Ace Air Conditioning is involved with them. I split time between Baton Rouge and Lake Charles.

Who was biggest missed basketball recruit of the Dale Brown Era?
Posted by FlyingTigerBo on 6/26/26 at 12:33 pm
Not the biggest bust or anything but someone who we finished a close 2nd place with that ended up being real good. Someone Dale almost had.
Think like Landon Collins but for basketball.

What's the worst state out of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama?

Overall, not just one particular area.
Always see these states compared to each other.

What is something your brain randomly decided was extremely important at 3am that turned out to be completely correct?
I woke up at 2am thinking my 7am flight was cancelled. Turns out it got cancelled 5 minutes before I checked. I was able to change to another flight and grab the last two seats. If I didn’t wake up then, I wouldn’t have made it to my destination for another day, at least.

Who's the smartest politician from Louisiana you've ever met?

Even though I didn't like him as Governor I talked to Bobby Jindal yesterday at a steakhouse and he came off as extremely intelligent to me.
What happened at your work which caused multiple people to all quit at once?
Posted by FlyingTigerBo on 6/25/26 at 11:21 am
They sidestep a manager that had a 10+ year career in the company, being consistent in nice and well performing to give the son in law of the CEO the job. 4 people quit after the news

Read Robert Durst, a real estate heir worth hundreds of millions, agreed to be interviewed for an HBO docuseries called The Jinx while being linked to multiple murders. In the final episode, he forgot his mic was still on, went to the bathroom, and muttered to himself "What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course." He was arrested the morning the episode aired.

What would be the best degree to pair with a Computer Science Degree in todays job market?
Posted by FlyingTigerBo on 6/24/26 at 5:59 pm
My nephew will be enrolling at the University of Texas (Yes I know gay) this fall and majoring in Computer Science.
Assuming he makes good grades he can apply to their undergrad business school and double major.
He wants to know what type of business degree would be best if computer science doesn't work out or give him a leg up when applying to jobs.
Again UT has one of the best CS programs in the Country so he shouldn't worry but he said the job market is tough to break into and he doesn't realize it yet but he's a white guy so he's gonna get dinged on DEI quotas.
UT offers Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Analytics, and Supply Chain Management. What would you recommend?
He plans on staying in Texas too.

He's got to be committing to ND right? He just visited today.
ND also got outspent by A&M on Kaden Henderson this week and I imagine they want to get back at them with this.

Anyone working at the Golden Pass LNG project in Sabine Pass, Texas?
Posted by FlyingTigerBo on 1/10/26 at 11:37 am
Start work there Monday with McDermott. Believe I'll be working at Train 1.
Just want to know how's the project out there. Goods, bads, all that.
Believe there are 9,000 contractors out there alone.
