Its interesting. Saban was asked this exact question at a Men's Club meeting at the church he attended in Baton Rouge that offseason. He responded that he had recently talked with Don James about that matchup if it had occurred. He said that James thought USC's passing game would have had a really difficult time with LSU's physicality in the secondary, because of how there was little to no press coverage in the Pac 10. Although he didn't specifically say his team would have won, it was clear Saban believed LSU would have won (though obviously you would expect that to be the case). Sad we didn't get to find out.
