Which team is built best for a tourney run?

I think A&M and Bama have teams that can do some damage in the NCAAT. AU will depend on matchups but we have a chance, too. McLemore out will hurt us in the boards and in depth.

McLemore out didn't hurt last night..

I don't think you can really tell until you see the bracket.
All things considered, Auburn is the team that has some the most consistency and ability to win games in various locations and against various styles. They are clearly the most mentally tough team in the league.
A lot of the other teams are kind of coin flips.

If guard play and 3 point shooting still dominate the tourney, AU is built well.
Harper, Brown and Heron are a 3 headed monster.

Kentucky, they always seem to put it together at the right time

To be honest, I don't know if I see an SEC team that is built for a deep run.
Auburn is one of the best teams in the country, but I am concerned about their size and depth in the tournament. They seem to have had a lot of adversity, losing their two best players before the season, losing a big guy (whose name escapes at the moment), and losing McLemore for the game against Alabama (which I guess didn't matter), yet still keep winning. Maybe they're a team of destiny? We'll find out in March.
Tennessee is also very good, but I don't know if they're good enough for a deep run. Alabama is very talented but extremely inconsistent, which doesn't bode well for a deep run. The rest of the tournament bound teams are solid teams that would have to get red hot to go far.
So I don't know. No one expected USC to get to the Final Four last year, so I guess anything can happen once the tournament starts. I am very excited to watch it unfold.

With our starting PG out for the season it isn't A&M.

Its about guards.
Auburn has the best guards. But you know that, that's why you started this thread.

Even though we are on the outside looking in, we would be very dangerous if we get enough wins down the stretch to eke our way into the tourney. Sagarin has us as a top 16 team when you look at recent results.
Peters has bought in to dishing the rock, and Ado has made huge strides since conference play started.

Before last night, I'd have said Alabama because of the old saying,"defense travels".
Now I'm leaning to the more fundamentally sound teams and Auburn wins that hands down......I'd love to see an Auburn/Virginia matchup...that'd be a helluva matchup, coaches included.

MSU is really good, honestly. They've learned to play together. I genuinely enjoy watching the five of Peters, W bros, Holman, and Ado play. They could beat anybody any night at this point. Glad we caught them early in SEC play.

The problem is, once AU runs into a team with a pair of quality bigs, you're in big trouble.
Will be all about avoiding that matchup for AU in the tourney.

IF - Petty was a real scoring threat
IF - Key was a powerful forward
Bama would be a true force.
Until those two guys get their heads out of their arse and play to their potential, we are mediocre at best.

I feel like that is often repeated, but not really all that true. You can win with bigs and elite wings too, but they're just not as common.
Duke's has a pair of 6'10"-11" freshman that avg 21-11 & 15-10. Anyone think they don't make a run? If anything they're going to have a unique advantage over most teams in March.

Was thinking Mizzou was primed to make some noise but then they lost to LSU and Ole Miss

(a) There aren't many of those teams
(b) Or they'll just double down and run up and down the floor and try to force those bigs out of their comfort zone. The mismatch game can go 2 ways if the other team isn't committed to those 2 bigs.

Auburn looked pretty helpless when A&M used its size inside.

No SEC team is strong enough to make a run at winning The NCAA Tourney.
