Auburn looked pretty helpless when A&M used its size inside.

A&M committed to playing through those guys, too. Auburn also shot 33% from 3. And they lost by 1 point.

If they play a team with multiple athletic bigs (A&M is one of probably 9 or 10 teams nationally with that) who sticks to their plan, Auburn will have to shoot well from outside to win. It's definitely not their favorite matchup, but a lot of people seem to think if Auburn gets matched with a team with a couple decent bigs it's an automatic loss. I just don't see that.

Depends on what Bama teams shows up, but I don't think Bama has the coaching to make a long run.

That game was close because of the home court advantage. I highly doubt they'll get the calls called that way in a tourney game. They shot almost 3x as many FTs. No way a jump shooting team should ever outshoot a team who takes it to the paint.

Ultimately it comes down to this. There are a bunch of ways to win a game. It isn't any different in March. Stay healthy, play well/get hot, and get a little lucky.

Bama is too streaky

If Aub gets hot from 3 it’s over

They have too many shooters

IF - Petty was a real scoring threat

IF - Key was a powerful forward

Bama would be a true force.

Until those two guys get their heads out of their arse and play to their potential, we are mediocre at best.

I agree about Petty, but not with Key. I said last year that Key is waaaay overrated, and my opinion hasn't changed at all. He's slow, lazy and has no focus on the court (he plays "big legged"). I'm confident that the kid's not stupid, but he sure as hell plays stupid. The Kentucky and Auburn games exposed Alabama's weak mentality, especially on the boards.

Florida has the most potential imo but White's coaching is going to have to improve. They have lost too many games this season that they have no business losing.

Without Egbunu I just don't think they are that good a basketball team. They aren't awful, but nobody really jumps out at you other than Chiozza and I have no clue what their identity is.

Maybe it is just missing him but I think I see some issues with effort defensively.

Duke's has a pair of 6'10"-11" freshman that avg 21-11 & 15-10. Anyone think they don't make a run? If anything they're going to have a unique advantage over most teams in March.

But they don't allow Duke's guards(i.e. Grayson Allen) to thrive.

One has been out the last 4 games, Allen has played his best ball all season.

Maybe not in the regular season, but this is the NCAAT. They better pray Duke isn't in their bracket.

We dont have good enough guard play. Any pressure and they fall apart.

North Carolina. The Refs will cover their deficiencies 100%

Honest answer I think we could end up with quite a lot of teams in the sweet 16. Don't see any of us in the championship.

There still aren't many of them.

Duke, Texas A&M, Arizona, Michigan State, Purdue, Syracuse, UCLA maybe, USC maybe, Utah if they stay hot, Baylor

Hudson has been the true savior of Florida's season IMO. Chiozza has stepped up but once again a transfer (heck, Koulechev too) is saving Florida. How long can they live off transfers each year?

Without Egbunu they just arent much of a complete team. Stone and Hayes havent stepped up and they have the Koulechev out there trying to play a big's role in rebounding.

Auburn is not a jump shooting team. They drive to the basket and use back cut to draw fouls better than anyone in the SEC. They are also tenacious on the boards and draw tons of fouls.

Auburn is a better team than A&M and would beat them 7-10 when both are healthy.

Basketball is a funny sport...being better is less of a guarantee of a win, but even now it's hard to imagine why any SEC fan wouldn't think Auburn has a good chance to make a decent tourney run. Other than fanatical bias.

Agree with this. There will be teams in the field like UNC that could give Auburn hell on the glass, which is what I think their ultimate downfall could be because they are undersized. It really depends on seeding and matchups.
