Baton Rouge, Scenic Highway, especially around 8 pm when the hookers and pimps are working Rim's World parking lot and the garbage from overflowing dumpsters is spread in the highway like a Kansas wheatfield.

A little harsh no? I see a robust economic structure and beautiful waterfront.

Meh... probably the same reason some Aubie (or insert any other school) fans get up in arms if a rival fan says anything negative about their town, campus, program, etc... Failure to read and look at it objectively.

The funny thing is, if we're grading on a "proximity scale"... Columbia might actually have a good argument... Not a far trip to get to mountains in upstate/lower North Carolina, reasonably short trip to get to the beaches/marshes of the Atlantic Coast, head west to get to Savannah River... not much *in* Columbia proper in that respect that I'm aware of, but has a lot of diversity of things within short drives.

Fayetteville isn't just near the Ozarks. It is in the Ozarks.

Elevation in the city itself ranges from 1100 to over 1800 ft.

Get better pictures or I'm bumping your score down... these were kinda meh.

Athens has the typical lush rolling pine forests of North/Central Georgia. Columbia (SC) is somewhat similar.

Columbia is in the sand hills of central South Carolina, it is more similar to the inland coastal areas than the Piedmont foothills. Athens is predominately oak-hickory forests with rolling hills. Athens looks more like Knoxville without the smokies than Columbia.

Gainesville has palm trees and tropical/subtropical foliage.

There are some great natural springs around Gainesville.

Based upon photos for the thread, it is knoxville.

The natural beauty photos in Athens would lead to a ban.

WOW!!!! The picture of desperation of trying to feel better about something. I would say that the giant tourist trap/strip mall Gatlinburg adjoining Knoxville completely blows Tenner's shite out of the running.... but I'm feeling pity for Tenner today and won't mention it.

There are a lot of popular springs near town - Ginnie, Poe, Devil's Den, Blue, Ichetucknee to name a few. There are several within an hours drive of Gaineville.

Well to be fair Fayetteville has Springdale (aka Chickendale) on it's north border that is less than scenic. But at least you can't really see if from Fayetteville.

People forget that 40 miles east of Columbia is the start of the Pee Dee region. Bishopville and Sumter are a world away from the Midlands and the Upstate.

I'd put Fayetteville during the turn of fall up against literally anywhere else. It's absolutely gorgeous in person.

For decades it was Athens. Building moved it down.

Auburn by 10 miles.
