Which coaching jobs come open this year?

In conference I'll guess Texas (Sark fired) and Mississippi State (Lebby hired elsewhere). I think Beamer wins juuuust enough to stick around at South Carolina another year. Stein stays at Kentucky. A&M doesn't fire Elko.
Elsewhere, I would guess USC (I expect them to lose to Ohio State, Indiana, and UCLA), Maryland, and Rutgers. I think Norvell holds on by his fingernails at FSU. Michigan is a dark horse if Whittingham were to decide he'd rather be retired after all.
Super dark horse is Bama coming open if DeBoer were to decide he'd rather be back out west and take the USC job. I don't expect that to happen, but if it did it isn't like my monocle would pop off.

My question regarding Texas, who are they going to go get? I know with the money etc.. they will have their choice, but who is the great coach that is definitively better than Sark.
Cignetti - Didn't even consider Florida, LSU, Penn State, etc... don't think he's going anywhere
Sitake - turned down other jobs, sounds like he's happy at BYU
Chesney - Bet he holds out for when Michigan or PSU comes available agian
Stein- Grew up in Kentucky.. why leave a good thing he has going and the program that gave him his start as a hc and loves him?
At that point you are taking a chance on a smaller school guy or a coordinator and I'm not sure who the can't miss coordinator is right now.

I just can't see it. Their AD is toast, though.

I don't know the answer to that question, but that's never stopped them before.
Texas, basically:

Norvell is safe for at least 2 more years unless they go winless next year. They literally can’t afford to fire him

I’d expect changes at either Arky, TX, A&M, or USCe before I’d expect Lebby to make a move.
If things keep going the way they have been, his stock won’t be that hot. It’s unfortunate, but I doubt Kamario will get back to 100% this year.
Lebby might want to see things through another year with a chance to have that backfield healthy. Feels way too soon.

My super hot take: I could see Texas targeting Heupel. A former OU player like Darrell Royal and a decent HC. It would be interesting to see what Heupel could do with unlimited resources, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he is over Sark. Outside of like 3 coaches in the country, a lot are the same.

Perhaps he stays at State, awaiting an OU opening.

I don't know if he is the answer and I know State fans were just tired of "Lebby football", but he is a known commodity to us and I don't relish the thought of starting over when we are already behind the 8 ball. He has got to find some quality linemen on both sides though (and keep Taylor, obviously).

Bama after deboer bolts to usc.

Beams is safe this year, barring a full-on implosion on the back stretch.
It's difficult to put into words the horrific shape our AD was in when Tanner finally left. Everything is in shambles. Football, basketball, and baseball were at historic lows.
Baseball looks to be fixed. Men's soccer is trending up (a small but proud program, really), and football and basketball both have stupid-high buyouts for mediocre coaches. I'd expect MBB to open this year, instead of football.
It's frustrating, but here we are.

If Deboer loses 3 or more games this year, I can see him on the hot seat but not getting fired. I think he would jump to Michigan or USC if either were to open up.
I honestly don't see anyone else leaving after this year. I think Lebby stays at least one more year at Miss State. I think Elko stays at A&M another year. If he has two down years in a row then I could see them turning the heat up there. Sark...I think they might weigh who their options could potentially be before canning him. They might realize they won't get anyone to come to Austin to be told what to do. Does Beamer stick around?
I think Schiano could be on his way out at Rutgers. He couldn't bring back the magic there a second time. Norvell stays because FSU can't afford to fire him.

I don't think there's any way he gets fired this year. If we miss the CFP he's going to be under a lot of pressure this offseason, though.

I don't expect it but I could see it.

Let's entertain the possibility for a moment: Alabama goes 8-4 or even 7-5 and ends up in the Music City Bowl, why would either of those programs want Kalen DeBoer?
His stock was fairly high at the end of last year because he did get Bama into the playoff; however, as the losses mount, you have to think it's dropping precipitously.

For the same reason that I don't want him fired just yet: his overall record says he wins, a lot. One poor season with a new starter at QB wouldn't be enough to change that.
I also think that if he left he would get some automatic cover from the media, who would spin it as "no one could have succeeded following Saban" and "DeBoer is a great coach but he just never seemed to fit at Alabama."

I look for Deboer to leave soon. He looks shook and seems to have aged just in the last two and a half years. He knows Bama is bigger than him. If the opportunity comes up, where he can win 9 games and live comfortably out west he’s going to take it.

I get Texas has money, but Kentucky will pay him and nobody is paying a coach that hasn't really won anything Kirby Smart money.
... well, almost nobody.
