My super hot take: I could see Texas targeting Heupel. A former OU player like Darrell Royal and a decent HC. It would be interesting to see what Heupel could do with unlimited resources, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he is over Sark. Outside of like 3 coaches in the country, a lot are the same.

Josh isn't leaving Knoxville.

I just can't see it. Their AD is toast, though.

That I can see

It will take a small miracle to save Hunter. Which would be twice the Arkansas AD was chosen to head the selection committee and immediately fired.

Silverfield gets at least two years unless Cignetti formally applies for the job. High turnover at coach is damn expensive today.

Didn't say he would leave. I said I could see Texas targeting him

I can see someone making a play for Lanning thinking Oregon is holding him back, maybe Texas

I get Texas has money, but Kentucky will pay him and nobody is paying a coach that hasn't really won anything

It’s all about timing in the college football head coaching market and being the hottest name when the big jobs open.

Stein currently only makes $5.5 million. I know Kentucky paid Stoops in the past, but would they be willing to pay Stein in the $9-10 million dollar range after one year should a program with unlimited money like Texas come calling?

Texas can handle a risk like that with a huge buyout

Say that out loud and think how ridiculous it has gotten.

I don’t set the market, lol.

That $5.5 million is good for 14th in the SEC in head coach salary. Only Jeff Lebby and Clark Lea are reported as being paid less than Stein.

In conference I'll guess Texas (Sark fired)

I think it'll take 7-5 or 6-6 for Sark to get canned.

My guess is if they miss the playoffs again (seems highly likley) that CDC and boosters force him to hire an OC. If that fails, then they fire him in 2027 for a pretty small buyout.

The second most likely outcome is that they mutually part ways this off season.

I think Sark is still in his seat next season, but I think they'd go after Lanning.

If the horns and bama lose their coaches, LSU will likely lose theirs.

And again, ridiculous, and I'm aware you don't set the market. Alabama did back in the 2000s.

You will see coaches salaries come down. Program support will start to matter more to these guys.

I think Elko stays at A&M another year. If he has two down years in a row then I could see them turning the heat up there.

In my experience being a fan for 20+ years, there's no way A&M fires Elmo this year, or next year, or even a year after that. There is no big burning desire to win and win now, no established culture of excellence which expects high number of wins year in and year out. Elmo will win 8+ games next year, and if schedule gods smile maybe he can reel in a 10 win season...and that will solidify him at A&M for longer, and with fatter paycheck.

A&M gave Mike Sherman several years, and Sumlin (Stumblin?) got a year or two more still. Fisher's firing is probably still costing the department some drag too... probably the only reason they haven't shitcanned the absolute abomination of the women's bb coach who has pushed the program into a ditch.

My fellow Ags hate Schloss for how he left the program (I do too) but he wanted excellence and changed some traditions to make his baseball program have a wider appeal to players as well as fans. And he wasn't rewarded. A&M rewards people who bow down to its culture and traditions, winning isn't the top priority. And it shows.
