Kentucky. It's his childhood and family's favorite team. He's not ditching them after 1 year. Other programs will come calling, and they may be able to offer more than Kentucky but I think Kentucky will at least give competitive enough counteroffers financially, and it's his dream school which other teams won't be able to offer.
Long story short he's not going anywhere else anytime soon.

UK, they will pay him well, plus he's from Kentucky so if he can keep having winning seasons he can stay for life

I think Texas goes another year with Sark and then sees how Stein does in year 2 before making a decision on what to do.
Stein coached at Texas for a few years with Charlie Strong, so there’s a connection there.

I would have said he’s doing a rebuilding job in Kentucky and would be there for a while but in all honesty if he were to go to the playoffs this year, you’ll probably see him in the NFL in 2027

He’s from Louisville, Kentucky (his family still lives here and his Mom/Aunt have a cake business here). Met his wife at UofL (she played lacrosse). His Dad played football for Kentucky in the 80s. Will grew up a Kentucky fan.
I’m more concerned if the NFL comes calling. But he’ll be at Kentucky until then IMO.

This is all nice to think about, but when you’re offered $12 million/year and $40-$50 million to build a roster, it’s hard to say no, especially when a buyout could set you up for life even if you fail.
I hope he stays at Kentucky, as well.

I hope he stays in the college game. He is good for College Football.

Kentucky is making a significant investment in football under the new AD and Stoops was regularly paid high end salary. He was getting $9 million a year when he left.

I hadn't thought of the NFL but that does make sense. He would have nothing to lose and can return to college any time he wished.

Reminds me a bit of Kenny Dillingham, who turned down some bigger offers to stay at his alma mater/dream school. Not looking like the best decision for him right now.

Is Buck one of us and just an alter?
I used to think he was a legit OSU fan as most of his posts had something to do with OSU or an attack on the upper tier teams of the SEC that were in OSU's way.
Lately though, he just seems to post stuff about any and every team here for a response. Has literally nothing to do with OSU.
What say you?

Like Belle said,Stoops was making 9 million a year. If he loves it here I don’t see any other programs offering much more than that. NIL money hasn’t really proved to be the end all be all in cfb. He could have one hell of a legacy here. When you go to a blue blood school if you don’t produce in 2 years you get canned. NFL may or may not be on some coach’s radar, but you can’t blame them if they want to give it a try.

Stein seems like the type of person that will stay where he's at and wants to build something. I think he'll be at UK for at least the next 4yrs.

It would have to big one of the top 5 programs. Why leave? He can become immortal in Kentucky. I think they can get close to paying what any other school would. Save...Michigan, OSU, Texas, SoCal etc....

Maybe LSU when Lane leaves for Bama.
