What has Freshwater done better than Nutt in the same amount of time?

Injuries won’t mean as much when you have 85 SEC level players on the roster. The problem Saturday was not the injured players, but that their replacements aren’t that good. Two of them on offense are walkons.

My fun kind of hypothetical scenario is Lane gets the LSU job, wins the national championship, and then Saban retires. Lane jilts LSU and goes to Alabama because he ultimately wants to be the guy that sits in Nick Saban’s chair.

The hypothetical Melt to End All Melts. This website would not survive.

Not losing to a 1AA team is kind of refreshing.

Almost zero chance Kiffin leaves Ole Miss this year. Bookmark my post.

Nutt was handed a roster with about 10 nfl players. Our roster is very short on both quality and quantity. People forget corral had been benched and was transferring before kiffin came. Kiffin will get good qbs but it’s tough to out recruit the blue bloods and their unlimited budgets for the top offensive and defensive line prospects. At the end of the day it’s those positions a school like bama and uga just clean up at that helps them dominate even when they have injuries.

Shitty defense

I think he'll be able to recruit and develop QBs, but I doubt that the blue chip defenders will want to play for him. His analytics bullshite is constantly putting the defense behind the 8-ball.

Nah, Kiffy is such a good fit for Ole Miss. A match made in heaven. It is an end of time kind of thing.

Well... one can hope, anyway. LOL

He’s won ten of his last 13 games. Losing only at Baton Rouge in a game he was in with only half his offense, at Auburn in a game he was in with half his offense and an injured quarterback, and at Alabama.

His wins are against 0-9 Vandy, 2-8 South Carolina, 4-7 State, 6-2 Indiana, 4-4 Louisville, Austin Peay (FCS), 1-7 Tulane, 5-3 Arkansas, 4-4 Tennessee, and 4-4 LSU. Not exactly a murderers row, and several of those wins were very close games. His loss to LSU last year was to a bad team missing a ton of players. His best win in that 13 game stretch was either Arkansas or Tennessee. That’s not saying a lot IMO. Like others have said, Kiffin can’t get out of his own way. If he could do that, which I’m not sure he can, he would be very dangerous.

They are markedly improved since Matt Luke but the real trial is after those players are gone.

yes how will we ever restock all of Matt Luke’s not even top 30 recruiting classes. Kiffin is doomed

It will be ugly for Lane if he’s still at OM and Corral is gone. He usually knows when to bolt.

Good coach for Ole Miss. He will be successful but not a coach to get a program over the hump. Pretty consistent story with Lane.

If LSU fans desire him and he gets the offer, he will absolutely split. But I think he'll get fired fairly quickly as the HC of LSU. Expectations being quite higher than Ole Miss.

Either way, I certainly wouldn't want Kiffin as a HC. Guy is a total head case.

My guess is the Ole Miss has at least one beat down game coming and probably rakes up 2 more losses before the season ends.

oh LSU being a bad team missing a ton of players is an acceptable reason but ours being a bad team missing a bunch of players isn't?

This board is absolutely getting dumber by the week.

It's like you idiots are purposefully ignoring the fact that our defense is absolute dog shite and we're having to recruit out of it.

People here are complete idiots. Nothing really new.

As you've pointed out....he's won 10 out of our last 13 and we're currently 6-2. At worst we'll finish the season 8-4.

I hate going 8-4(that's if we lose to both MSU and ATM) with a guy like Corral behind center but an 8-4 season with one of the worst defenses in the nation is absolutely a good season.

Your defense wasn't the problem on the Plains. Matt Corral couldn't score in the second half.

Someone should set Lane down and explain that you take the points. 3 point field goal is worth 3 points. Missed 4th down is worth 0.

Especially when you are playing your equals. Maybe against BAMA, you lose your mind. But there was no excuse for not taking the points against a team that was playing at home and pretty much even in talent.

I don't think he's ever going to get a quarterback that's any better than Corral to come to Ole Miss. He hasn't really done much with him. His play-calling has devolved into something like watching a 13 year old play Madden football. Other than being good for laughs what's his upside really, would Ole Miss fans even care if Lane left now?

This is a terrible take.

He hasn't done much with Corral other than take a guy who was backing up John Rhys Plumlee two seasons ago and make him a Heisman Trophy contender. I mean, other than that he hasn't done much with him.

This team was 4-8 less than two years ago. Kiffin's 10-3 over the last 13 games, with a chance to finish very strong in November--Ole Miss doesn't have to leave the state of Mississippi for the rest of the season.

Last night was a disappointment, but we're being killed by injuries. Still have a shot at a 10 win season. I hope Kiffin stays as long as he wants.

Have to take the points when your QB has two sore ankles and you're down to your 4th string WR on the road in conference play and still in striking distance. Defense looked bad in the first half but held Auburn to 3 points in the 2nd.

If this team was the same team from even last week, sure. Give it a shot. But by that 2nd half, it wasn't the same team. Get the points and give yourself a chance to win it.

Something to learn from and move on.
