Governor Mike Braun of Indiana? Seems he has quite a hand in College governance.
Sweeping Governance Overhaul (Budget Bill, signed May 6, 2025)
The 2025-27 budget included last-minute provisions that critics called "a complete takeover" of public higher education:
Full gubernatorial control over the Indiana University Board of Trustees — eliminating alumni-elected seats so Braun appoints all nine members
Faculty "productivity" reviews and a requirement to post syllabi online
Faculty emeriti barred from voting in faculty governance bodies
~5% cut to state higher education funding
IU Board of Trustees: In June 2025, Braun appointed sports-connected members to the IU Board of Trustees, including reappointing former IU basketball great Quinn Buckner (who led IU to the 1976 national title) as board chair, and adding sports broadcaster Sage Steele

Most here don't like him. He's a fricking caricature of an old school Louisiana politician.
wtf are you talking about?
most people believed the BS that him saying things in the wake of BKs firing would hurt our chances to get the coaches we want....yet he not only got our shithead AD fired but also helped get us the coach we wanted in football. then when the coach we wanted in basketball, would only come if he answered to his old AD....he made that happen too
when he realized LSU as a school was being overrun by DEI bullshite by Tate(and look i was a dumbass and took up for tate on here...yes i was a stupid naive frick at the time who didnt have all the info) he ran him off and replaced him with a badass who had turned around another state university in Rouse. and when he realized many on the actual academic side wanted the other candidate he made sure there was room for both and that both could concentrate on doing what they are actually best at
then on top of that, economically he has been the best gov the state has had.
sure some dumbasses dont like the businesses like space x coming here or the LNG coming because they think it ruins a way of life(that way of life is sitting on the porch of their trailer receiving welfare & duck hunting instead of working) but nobody gives a frick about the "Swamp Queen" Ms Liz or all the inbred fricks
Landy is alot like trump, he is unapologetic and gives zero fricks if he hurts your feelings and many cant handle that.

I don’t remember a governor in my lifetime, the last 45 years, being involved at all. If they were it wasn’t done so publicly.

I've always wondered what it must have sounded like inside those dorms on game days.
Lived under the NEZ in '72; it sounded just about like you'd expect- not much different than being at concessions or in a bathroom when something big/loud happens.... Back then we could go in&out w/ a Student ID- could go back to rooms to smoke&drink at half-time, go back in when it got loud again...,
A much cooler sound was hearing the tiger roar on a quiet night, cage was much smaller and on the stadium side of the street (closer to my windows)

Most definitely.
Braun is one of the many pols that was pretty milquetoat and unappealing until he shed his skin and went full bore MAGA and then suddenly found a reliable voter base.
He is pretty despised in the Indiana University Community, as is Pam Whitten, but the average joe on the small town street is voting for him happily.
