T-Ball, Little League/Select ball/AAU, Pony/Babe Ruth
Select ball and AAU was reserved for the kids who’s dads were 5 foot 7 and talked about their high school athletic careers like uncle Rico from napoleon dynamite. They were willing to spend their bottom dollar on gear, camps, and select team fees to see little Johnny get a scholarship that they never ended up getting because they were burned out by age 15.
Edit: their moms typically had a “speak to the manager” haircut.

Dixie, Turfland, Southeast Babe Ruth
Fall Ball/Travel Ball for whichever league, mostly Dixie.
KHSAA for high school. I believe non high school/city leagues were Cal Ripken?
Shoutout to the Expos, Padres, Rangers, Twins, Mets, Hustlers and Bulldogs

quote:I played Dixie Babe Ruth here in Lexington. We have a Dixie Elemantary School. We have a Southern Middle School who's mascot is the Rebels. We had two Confederate statues outside the old courthouse downtown that were recently moved to the Lexington cemetary.
this is gonna get Kentucky and Mizzou kicked out
You sir fail gloriously and awarded zero points. Hope this helps. Our bonafides are quite intact.

Yeah of little league, babe ruth, hs ball and legion, legion was my favorite b/c we'd combine w/ other area town in middle TN and go play tourneys in Chat, Memphis, and Twitty City Classic in Nashville...SO MUCH FUN playing doubles against good comp...and all the good fields.

There were a lot of kids in our neighborhood and we played ball on the school playground. Didn’t get to play organized ball and high school didn’t have a team back then.
I hate I missed out, but we had fun.
