In addition to Alabama, Auburn can recruit talent rich Georgia, especially the Atlanta area.

LSU and Florida are way better jobs.

Maybe by your gut. Not by any objective measure.

By every objective measure including “Gut”.

LSU is usually listed as a top five job and I’m sure Florida is not far behind.

Yeah but remember the SEC East/West dynamic is about to disappear for good, so no one really knows who you’ll be paired with besides Miss State as your yearly rival considering that Vanderbilt will always be tied to Knoxville. You could end up with Texas, Oklahoma, 8&4, or LSU, but it isn’t likely to be Vandy.

Ole miss can easily get around this by giving the contract through the OMAF. It’s not something that’s absolute

Then why haven’t we done this yet?

Honestly?

Bigger payout when your fired.

Tubbs
Chizik
Malzahn
Harsin

All made multi millionaires by being fired by Auburn

Auburn can offer a 6,8,10 year contract. Stability is worth something.

Harsin’s contract was for 6 years and y’all fired him after a year and a half.

Long contracts don’t mean shite at Auburn. What good is a 6 year contract if you’re willing to fire someone after 1.5 years?

Auburn fans talking about stability

Well yeah they do. He’s being paid for 6 years. Same thing with Jimbo.
You don’t think that’s attractive to a coach?

They can but they are getting stiff competition from programs that aren't close to those areas and that doesn't include major SEC programs or other power 5 schools. The bigger the state the more competitive it will get.

Any state in the Southeast is going to have an advantage over the rest of the nation with demographics and the population shift going South.

The issue is the current state. Kiffin is rolling at Ole Miss while Auburn is kind of a dumpster fire right now.

That’s just it though. Kiffin is rolling in Oxford. He’ll probably 10 games.

And just as has been the case since the SEC started playing a championship game 30 years ago, Ole Miss will still not play in it. Ole Miss hasn’t won a conference championship 59 years.

Kiffin knows if he wants to compete for a SEC Championship, much less national championship it’s not going to happen at Ole Miss. I didn’t say that to be mean or to troll, it’s just the truth. History shows there are six SEC programs who regularly compete for and win championships:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Tennessee

These programs are called the “Big 6” for a very good reason. Every season since 1963, one of them has been the SEC Champions. They are the only ones in that time to play for and win national championships. In fact, since the founding of the SEC in 1933, only 7 or 8 seasons has ended without one of those six programs not at least with a share of the SEC title.

So, yes Kiffin is rolling at Ole Miss. But even at their peak that’s not going to actually give Ole Miss even a chance to play for a championship.

And yes, Auburn is a dumpster fire right now. But history has problem that while Auburn does go though down cycles, it never stays down long. It comes back and competes for and wins championships.

Yeah I definitely do, but the poster used the word “stability”. I hardly think stability describes a situation where you can be let go 18 months in.

Financial predictability would be more accurate. And I think Kiffin values stability over financial predictability.

Auburn would have to pay $43M in the next three months to make Kiffin their head coach next year, then pay him $10M when payroll comes around. So, $53M in total over the next ten months. I don't care who your boosters are, that's an absurd number.

Auburn has been at the top more but their stock rises and falls faster than a shitcoin. That mixed with dysfunctional booster network I don’t think many established guys are going to jump there without some serious money and contract perks. Right now Kiffin has it made with a AD that doesn’t micromanage him, he can live in Florida in the off-season, he does what he wants on social media and the school has bought into him as the brand. Auburn might be better on paper but they have a lot of problems to get through before Kiffin would jump. It’s not a no brainer like some of y’all make it out to be.

Playoff expanding to 12 teams completely eliminates this line of thinking. 10-2 in the SEC would have ole miss in the playoffs back to back years.

Times are changing.
