Playoff expanding to 12 teams completely eliminates this line of thinking. 10-2 in the SEC would have ole miss in the playoffs back to back years. Times are changing.

You love to see it.

These “big 6” people out here acting like it’s 1996 and the BCS system is coming back

I think when it shakes out even a 12 team field might only mean 6 at large teams and they might limit it to 3 teams per conference.

Which would still heavily favor the eyeball test excuse giving bigger name programs second and third opportunities.

This year for example Alabama might end the year losing to either LSU or Ole Miss and still get considered in a 12 team field. But Ole Miss would have about zero chances with another loss (compared to Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama).

It’s a completely new era so you can take history and old school recruiting out off the list. Money is real but what the coach gets vs what the boosters pay for facilities is 2 different issues. If I were ole piss, which I thankfully am not, I would make Lane the highest paid coach in SEC and dare Aubs to beat it. Kiff can make Ole Miss fans happier than Aub fans much easier for more money.

It doesn’t matter though. Teams like OM and Ark can make a 12 team playoff. Will still never win it all though. I as an Arkansas fan know that.

OM had a chance to win it all already a few years ago and got knocked off by Arkansas.

The west is so fkn brutal and with Auburn not settling for what they had, it’s about to get tighter again.

Ole Miss suffers from shitty coaching. Freeze was throwing bags of money to recruits but the problem is he can't coach and has a losing record to Bert, the dude that won 11 SEC games in five years. Give Saban that talent and they win the SEC and make the playoffs.

Never say never in anything. An expanded playoffs gives any team a better chance to win it all and upsets can happen. It gives some teams that have stumbled early in the season that get hot on a winning streak a chance that wouldn't have happened under the old systems.

Bruh, Ole Miss can only fill their little stadium when the opposing team brings 10k plus fans.

It's a small fanbase. No real money.

State I'm not sure may have more fans.

I don’t thinks it a lateral move.

You can win BIG at Auburn.

I’m not sure you can at Ole Miss.

But other than that , I think from a quality of life ( not necessarily money) Ole Miss is a better job.

Their fan base is loyal , to a fault.

At Auburn you’re better off renting than buying. Also, their fan base is like a cult it doesn’t have creepy traditions like TexAM; but it’s kinda similar expectations wise and un-real as well. Auburn is always in for a quick fix; have no interest in building a consistent top 10 , win 10 games a year type program. The question is why not?

The only back to back 10 win seasons were 1988-1989.
They have never won the conference outright in back to back years.
They have never played in the SECCG in back to back years.

And it’s so strange because they have played for the Natty twice since 2010.

They just have no year in and year out consistency. It all comes back to being impatient, imo.
