Definitely touched the rim, which is goaltending, baw.

And this has been interpreted as meaning FULLY within the cylinder. Partially is okay, and rarely called, especially if it's falling away from the basket.

The rule doesn't state that the ball needs to be in the cylinder entirely
Like tbird said, it's a bit of a judgement call, but that specific call is called offensive interference nine out of ten times
Don't know why people get defensive when a call falls their way. It happens

quote:the text of the rule will tell you that it doesnt really matter. Having any part of the ball over the cylinder will create basket interference. In practice though, refs will normally make a judgement call based on practicality because baskerball would be fundamentally different if they called it by the letter of the law
Wasn't within the cylinder in its entirety,

It also never defines what's considered within the cylinder.

It’s also defensive goaltending to stick your hand through the goal and net
Which Uk did on that play. The refs simply didn’t want to blow the whistle on either team

The rule says, the ball, the ball (as a whole) was not in the cylinder

Basket interference, but LSU got the calls all night, so it's not surprising.

What is the rule for Kentucky hand through the rim pulling the net up through the rim

You have to contact the ball for goaltending.

The cylinder is the rim itself going upward

it wasn't there, though, so congrats on the big win

Nothing unless the ball is contacted.

Wasn't on the rim. Wasn't above the cylinder (has to be FULLY over the cylinder). Not goaltending.
That's not true. The rule doesn't state whether it has to be fully in or out. However, refs usually interpret as whether or not the ball is on the way out. If it's partially out and on the way out, they rarely, if ever, call it.

The ball has to have a chance of going in the basket or entirely above the cylinder
Yes that's the rule

c) reaching up through the basket from below and touching the ball, whether it is inside or outside the cylinder

No, the ball doesn't have to have a chance of going in. That's neither something that's written down or ever practiced
If the ball is over the basket, it's almost always called offensive interference
The ball was over the basket
